Qwilfish is a Pokémon created for the second generation of games. It also suffers from something a lot of Pokémon from the earlier generations suffer from – it underperforms compared to all the shiny new Pokémon out there. Qwilfish never got an evolution in a later game, or an alternate form through Mega Evolution or Gigantamax. It stands as a testament to what a single-stage Gen II Pokémon can do. That’s not much, but it still takes up a Pokédex slot in Sword & Shield.
Where To Find Qwilfish In Sword & Shield
Like many Water-type Pokémon in Galar, Qwilfish can be found in the seas of Route 9. Floating around will lead to an encounter with one. In the Wild Area, you can also find Qwilfish in the waters of Bridge Field. Or if you prefer, you can find them by fishing at Dusty Bowl and the Lake of Outrage.
What Qwilfish Does In Battle
Qwilfish has a few ways to mess with the opposing Pokémon. This can take immediate effect thanks to its Abilities, Intimidate and Poison Point. For moves, it can use regular Spikes and Toxic Spikes. It can also learn Thunder Wave for some reason, and the Water-type staple Scald. But for all of the status effects it can inflict on an opposing team, it has terrible Special Defense. Keep it away from Psychic-types.
