Solrock, the sun Pokémon, is back for Sword & Shield after somehow being skipped in Sun & Moon. Not much has changed – it still gets no Mega Evolution or Gigantamax form – but it does take up a Pokédex slot nonetheless. That means you’ll need to find it if you want to catch ’em all.
Where To Find Solrock In Pokémon Sword
First things first: Solrock can only spawn in Pokémon Sword. Its counterpart, Lunatone, can only spawn in Pokémon Shield. So the idea is to catch two, and trade a friend (or internet stranger) for the other game’s Pokémon.
To get those Solrock, look in either Route 8 or Giant’s Cap in the Wild Area. It has a much high spawn rate at Giant’s Cap, so you’ll have an easier time finding it there. It should be just floating around.
What Solrock Does In Battle
As a single-stage, non-Legendary Pokémon, Solrock doesn’t have the best stats. Its most notable contributions to a battle team are setting up Stealth Rock or Morning Sun. However, that Fire and Rock typing makes it very susceptible to Water-type attacks, which tend to be a very common threat.
