Every new generation of Pokémon adds a Pikachu lookalike. The one for Pokémon Sun & Moon was Togedemaru, an Electric/Steel-type hedgehog chu. It might not be the newest Pika-clone anymore, but it still makes an appearance in Sword & Shield. Read on to find out how to add one of these round friends to your team.
Where To Find Togedemaru In Sword & Shield
Togedemaru is a rare spawn in Sword & Shield, so you might have to put some time in. It can spawn on Route 8 as one of the Pokémon walking around. It can also show up in tall grass in the Lake of Outrage area during a snowstorm. It has a slightly higher chance of appearing at the Lake of Outrage, but it will mean sifting through random spawns.
What Togedemaru Does In Battle
Unlike Pikachu proper, Togedemaru doesn’t evolve. So you’re stuck with this tiny, frail little guy when you take it into battle. That said, Togedemaru does have some fun tricks to mess with opponents. A lot of its moves can cause opponents to flinch or paralyze them, and Smogon put together some combos to take advantage of that.
Nuzzle will paralyze the opponent as long as it hits, and Zing Zap can make them flinch. So can Iron Head. Using these moves one after another might prevent the foe from having any turns at all, allowing Togedemaru and friends to whale on them.
