Turtonator is an awesome Generation VII Pokémon that combines the Fire and Dragon-types. You’d think there’d be more Pokémon with those types, but Turtonator is pretty unique. If you’d like to add this fearsome turtle dragon to your Sword & Shield team, then look no further than this guide.
Where To Find Turtonator
Turtonator is exclusive to Pokémon Sword. If you have Shield, you’ll have to trade for it. Probably for Drampa, as that’s considered to be Turtonator’s Gen VII exclusive equivalent.
If you do have Sword, then look for Turtonator during very sunny weather at the Lake of Outrage. It has a small chance of spawning as an encounter in the tall grass.
What Turtonator Does In Battle
Turtonator has extremely high Defense, what with the big shell and all. It also has its own signature move called Shell Trap. When it takes a physical attack on the turn it set up Shell Trap, it responds with an explosive counterattack. On the offensive side of things, Turtonator is better with Special Attack. That means Flamethrower, Fire Blast, Draco Meteor, and/or Dragon Pulse.
Its high Defense combined with good Special Attack make Turtonator a good check to very physical Pokémon. Throw it out to deal with those aggressive Fighting-types.
