Master Dojo is the main staple of Pokémon’s new Isle of Armor. As part of the Expansion Pass, players get to take on the trials of Master Mustard in order to learn the secrets of the dojo. Of course, it turns out to be Kubfu, who evolves into a lean, mean, fighting machine.

But there is plenty around Master Dojo players could have easily missed. At first glance, it seems like a straightforward storyline. In reality, there are multifaceted elements to what the dojo can offer to fans, both before the trials take place and especially after.

9 Pokémon Camp Toys

8 Recovery Room

It’s easy to miss: there’s a room where players can rest and heal their Pokémon off to the side of Master Dojo, before entering the living area. While it will later get upgrades with Watts, it is accessible at the very start of exploring the Isle of Armor.

This is an important spot to discover, as there are no Pokémon Centers on the entire Isle of Armor. So instead of hailing a Corviknight bus all the way back to the mainland, consider the Recovery Room. Players should take advantage of it before battling Master Mustard or even undertaking any of the trials.

7 Max Soup List

6 Master Mustard’s Joke

5 Special Guest

4 Watt Trader

Players will be familiar with Watt Traders from the Wild Area, but this one is easy to miss, as he’s decked out in a dojo uniform. This technically takes place outside Master Dojo in the Fields of Honor, but he’s basically stationed at the front door.

He carries the traditional staples of a Watt Trader: he has varieties of Poké Balls and potions in stock, as well as a Poké Doll and Wishing Piece. The latter will come in handy, as there are still many dens and raids around the Isle of Armor.

3 New Move Tutor

2 Restricted Sparring

Training can be finished when five consecutive battles have been won. But if the player loses, the sparring is over then and there. Trainers can restore Pokémon between battles but only two times. It’s an exciting new addition to the DLC once the main story has been played through.

1 Post-Story Clothing Gift

Avery and Klara are the latest rival in Pokémon, exclusive to Shield and Sword, respectively. It’s tough to be a fan of characters who are so mean, but there’s an NPC in Master Dojo who’s been won over.

She will tell the player she was so impressed by their trials, she made a Casual Tee in their honor. Unfortunately, Avery and Klara consider it rubbish, while she considers it well-made. The player gets the gift instead.
