The Isle of Armor DLC added many new forms and Pokémon for players to collect, and players have already started using these creatures to their advantage during Pokémon battles. New Gigantamax forms, Galarian forms, and completely new species of Pokémon have come into creation within the DLC.

Players are busy collecting all of these new Pokémon and forms; however, some fans may wonder how they hold up to each other in terms of strength and designs. Some of these new creatures have already become beloved in the Pokémon community; however, some of them also fell flat because they aren’t very innovative, and they look similar to their original designs.

9 Gigantamax Rillaboom

Gigantamax Rillaboom is a more powerful version of Rillaboom, and when it grows in size, its drumset also becomes much larger and gains more drums. Unfortunately, Rillaboom is a standard looking Pokémon, and it is regarded as the least-liked starter of Generation 8.

Rillaboom fans have already begun to use this form in competitive Pokémon battling, and it is a nice addition considering that there weren’t any Gigantamax forms for the Galar starters at launch. However, Gigantamax Rillaboom is considered to be the worst of the three new Gigantamax forms for the Galar starters because it doesn’t change much in appearance.

8 Gigantamax Cinderace

Gigantamax Cinderace looks very similar to the regular Cinderace; however, it is standing on a large fireball that it can kick at its enemies. Cinderace has become a new favorite in the Pokémon community because of Scorbunny’s adorable appearance and Cinderace’s powerful kicking abilities.

This fireball also has what resembles a face on it, which makes the form look even more unique and special. A lot of fans absolutely adore Scorbunny and its evolutionary line, so this new form with a welcomed addition to PokémonSword and Shield.

7 Galarian Slowbro

The Galar variant of Slowpoke has been available in Pokémon Sword and Shield for a while now; however, it wasn’t able to evolve into anything until the Isle of Armor DLC.

Galarian Slowpoke is now capable of evolving into Galarian Slowbro, which is a Poison/Psychic-type that resembles a regular Slowbro but instead holds a Shelder in its hand. Players are eagerly awaiting the new Galarian Slowking, which is set to release in the Crown Tundra DLC, and it will likely be similar to Galarian Slowbro in many ways.

6 Gigantamax Inteleon

Gigantamax Inteleon is the best new form for the Galar starters because it changes the most in appearance and generally has an interesting atmosphere around it.

Inteleon has a much longer body in this form, and it is also holding a sniper of some sort that can shoot water at enemies. Inteleon already had a spy theme; however, this form kicks it up a notch, which is great for fans of this Water-type starter.

5 Kubfu

Kubfu is both an adorable and powerful Fighting-type that can defeat any Normal-type creature during a battle.

Although Kubfu may be small, it has incredibly strong fists and a powerful jumping ability that allows it to move in an agile manner during combat. Fans have quickly become enamored with Kubfu both because of its appearance, and it’s powerful Fighting-type abilities.

4 Gigantamax Venusaur

The Mega Evolution for Venusaur didn’t change its appearance as much as fans hoped it would, and the Gigantamax form of this Grass-type starter helps to rectify this by largely changing its appearance.

Gigantamax Venusaur has a flower that wraps around its body, and it can use even stronger Grass-type abilities than its regular Dynamax form. Players have been hoping for a new form for Venusaur that gives it a fresh look, and this is exactly what fans were hoping for.

3 Urshifu Single Strike

Urshifu’s Single Strike form is a Fighting/Dark-type Pokémon that can use abilities that deal a ton of damage in a single blow.

This form is great for fans that enjoy powerful Pokémon that can damage the enemy with a single strike. Players will get a chance to choose between Urshifu Single Strike style and Urshifu Rapid Strike style during the Isle of Armor DLC.

2 Urshifu Rapid Strike

The Rapid Strike style for Urshifu offers players a chance to obtain a Fighting/Water-type Pokémon, which is a very unique combination of types and will help diversify Urshifu’s moveset quite a bit.

A lot of players love the Rapid Strike attacks that Urshifu can learn in this form, and it has quickly become a fan-favorite creature even more than the Single Strike style for Urshifu, mostly because of its unique dual-type.

1 Gigantamax Blastoise

Gigantamax Blastoise is a new form for the Kanto starter, and it is the first form in the Pokémon video games that allow players to actually use the cannons on Blastoise’s back.

Every fan loves Blastoise both because it is a powerful Water-type and because it was one of the first starters in the franchise, which is why this new form made a lot of players very excited. Gigantamax Blastoise definitely lived up to what fans were hoping to get out of the Gigantamax form, and both its aesthetic and stats help to make this new form beloved among the Pokémon community.
