Fairy-type Pokémon were first introduced in Generation 6, and fans quickly became enamored with the typing because it was so unique from every other variety of Pokémon that had been introduced into the series at the time. Fans will find that there very many powerful Fairy-type Pokémon, especially since the Fairy-typing is super effective against Dragon-types.
A lot of players love Fairy-type Pokémon during a battle; however, they may not be aware of the best moves and movesets to teach their Fairy-types. With so many different Fairy-type Pokémon to choose from, there is no doubt that there are lots of different combinations of moves to form the strongest Pokémon possible.
10 Gardevoir - Destiny Bond, Psychic, Draining Kiss, Moonblast
Gardevoir is mostly known for its Psychic and Fairy-type attacks, and as such, this moveset will utilize those two typings more than any other. However, Destiny Bond will also be thrown into the set because it will solidify the defeat of the enemy if Gardevoir faints.
Attacks such as Psychic and Moonblast will deal a large amount of damage to enemies that are standing in Gardevoir’s way, and trainers will have little trouble taking down Poison-type Pokémon with this moveset.
9 Alcremie - Dazzling Gleam, Attract, Hyper Beam, Acid Armor
Acid Armor will be useful for Alcremie if it needs extra defense during a Pokémon battle, and Hyper Beam and Dazzling Gleam will do large amounts of damage to enemies that otherwise have high defense.
Attract is also very useful, because it can infatuate a Pokémon for the rest of the battle if it is the opposite gender of the Pokémon being used by the enemy. Trainers should use moves such as these and combine them together for a powerful moveset.
8 Togekiss - Sky Attack, Solar Beam, Fly, Draining Kiss
Togekiss has been a fan favorite Fairy-type creature ever since its type was switched in Generation 6; as such, Togekiss has a lot of different attacks that it can use both of the Flying and Fairy-typing.
Using a few Flying-type attacks and combining it with one or two Fairy-type attacks will be useful when using a Togekiss as seen with this moveset. Fans also can’t go wrong with a Solar Beam thrown into the mix for battling Water-type Pokémon as well.
7 Diancie - Moonblast, Iron Defense, Toxic, Diamond Storm
Diancie is a mythical creature from Generation 6 that many trainers can’t even come close to catching. However, for players that have obtained their own Diancie, they should use a set of moves that will both use its defenses and attack with great strength.
Moonblast, Iron Defense, Toxic, and Diamond Storm are a great combination because they use moves such as Toxic to slowly damage enemies on the battlefield and attacks such as Moonblast to deal a lot of damage all at once.
6 Wigglytuff - Dazzling Gleam, Play Rough, Thunderbolt, Sing
Wigglytuff is a cute Pokémon; however, it also has a lot of powerful attacks and is a very strong Pokémon overall. The iconic Sing attack should be added to any arsenal with Wigglytuff, both because it is fun to use with such a lovely creature and because it can easily put any Pokémon to sleep.
After an enemy is asleep, players can use attacks such as Thunderbolt and Dazzling Gleam to deal damage to Pokémon that can’t fight back. Adding one attack that is of a different typing such as Thunderbolt will be immensely helpful when dealing with Pokémon that are strong against Fairy-type moves.
5 Mimikyu - Play Rough, Curse, Giga Impact, Shadow Claw
Mimikyu has many different possibilities because it was designed to be available for players of all different playstyles. As such, fans can teach their Mimikyu different types of attacks such as Play Rough, Shadow Claw, and Giga Impact, which all deal damage but are of different types.
Mimikyu should also be taught at least one attack for status effects and other such interesting abilities because Mimikyu isn’t the tankiest Pokémon, and it can possibly only get one move in before being defeated. Curse is the perfect attack to teach it, since Mimikyu is a Ghost-type.
4 Hatterene - Heal Pulse, Dazzling Gleam, Psychic, Brutal Swing
Hatterene is one of the best Fairy-type Pokémon in the Galar region, and fans can teach it many attacks that will deal damage outside of its original type.
Heal Pulse is also an attack that Hatterene can utilize to recover HP in the midst of a battle without any items. Dazzling Gleam is one of the strongest Fairy-type attacks that Hatterene can learn, and as such, fans should immediately teach it to their Pokémon when they get the chance. A diverse moveset with Psychic and Fairy-type attacks will win the battle for any Hatterene!
3 Grimmsnarl - Spirit Break, Play Rough, Dark Pulse, Hammer Arm
Another Generation 8 Pokémon, Grimmsnarl, is a strong Dark /Fairy-type with a lot of potential to defeat enemies without much effort. Grimmsnarl has high stats, and they will be great for using offensive attacks such as Hammer Arm and Play Rough to decimate enemies that come this Pokémon’s way.
The most notable of these attacks is Hammer Arm because it deals a large amount of damage, but a Fairy-type attack is also crucial, and Play Rough is one of the strongest ones that Grimmsnarl can learn within its arsenal of attacks.
2 Sylveon - Moonblast, Magical Leaf, Last Resort, Dig
Sylveon is the Fairy-type eeveelution, and it can luckily learn a large variety of different attacks that all have their own type. Most players wouldn’t expect to see Magical Leaf and Dig as two of the best moves to teach Sylveon; however, they offer super effective status against many different types of Pokémon.
Last Resort will be used when Sylveon is out of options and needs to deal large amounts of damage with only one move left. And Moonblast is the most powerful Fairy-type attack that Sylveon can learn, and as such, players should teach it to their Pokémon as soon as possible.
1 Xerneas - Mega Horn, Close Combat, Moonblast, Outrage
Xerneas is one of the two regional legendaries in Generation 6, and it was one of the first creatures in the franchise to gain the Fairy-typing. However, although Xerneas is a Fairy-type, it is also able to learn a variety of different attacks with unique effects and typings.
Megahorn is a Bug-type attack that does a very large amount of damage, and it’s worth teaching it to Xerneas. Close combat is also one of Xerneas’ highest damage output moves. Moonblast is yet again crucial for a trainer that wants to teach their Xerneas the most powerful Fairy-type attack possible.
