There are a ton of Psychic-type Legendary Pokémon, so it’s no surprise that many of the tallest Psychic-types are in that category. It is, after all, the most common type for Legendary Pokémon. What might be somewhat humorous or surprising for some, though, is that Necrozma, Lunala, and Solgaleo make up this list in their various forms and interconnected combinations.
The only thing more intimidating than a large Legendary Pokémon is one that has psychic powers and can control you or your thoughts, so some of these Pokémon are especially menacing. Here are the tallest Psychic-types, from shortest to tallest.
10 Mega Latios and Mega Mewtwo X
The first spot on the list goes to a tie between two Pokémon. Mewtwo after it has Mega Evolved into Mega Mewtwo X and Mega Latios both clock in at a whopping 7'07" (2.3 m). Mega Mewtwo Y is, unfortunately, quite a bit shorter than its counterpart at only 4'11" (1.5 m), which makes it significantly shorter than even regular Mewtwo, which measures 6'07" (2 m).
Mega Latios is also taller than its counterpart, Mega Latias, which measures only 5'11" (1.8 m).
9 Necrozma
Necrozma’s variations and forms appear throughout this list. The regular form of Necrozma is still freakishly tall and scary. The Prism Pokémon measures a nice 7'10" (2.4 m), which is definitely nothing to scoff at. When weighing in at a significant 507.1 lbs (230 kg), this guy has some heft.
After fusing with Lunala, Solgaleo, or using Ultra Burst, Necrozma will grow several feet in height and become much scarier in terms of its size and presence.
8 Mega Metagross
This is only Pokémon of the tallest Psychic-types that isn’t a Legendary or Mythical Pokémon is, instead, a pseudo-legendary in its Mega Evolved form. Mega Metagross, the intimidating iron leg Pokémon, clocks in at 8'02" (2.5 m).
Before Mega Evolving, Metagross comes in around 5'03" (1.6 m), which is alright but not super tall. This is quite the growth spurt that it grows through, although much of it can be attributed to its switch from quadripedal and horizontal to a floating, vertical menace.
7 Solgaleo
Lions are already large creatures, but in the Pokémon world, they can be gargantuan. Solgaleo, one of a few lion-esque Pokémon, measures in at 11'02" (3.4 m).
Slightly taller than an African Elephant and covered in spikes, Solgaleo is an intimidating force. Throw in the fact that it’s capable of traveling between dimensions and utilizing Steel- and Psychic-types attacks, and this is not a cat whose bad side you’d like to be on.
6 Dusk Mane Necrozma
Fuse the terrifying Solgaleo with a Necrozma and you’re in store for something much taller. Dusk Mane Necrozma, the fusion of the two Pokémon, stands at a gigantic 12'06" (3.8 m). That’s twice the height of the average refrigerator.
At 12 feet tall, Dusk Mane Necrozma towers over a ton of Pokémon, including most other Psychic-types. Still, this isn’t the tallest form of Necrozma or even the tallest of the Generation VII box Legendaries.
5 Lunala
Solgaleo’s counterpart and the box art for Pokémon Moon is Lunala, a bat-like Pokémon that also resembles a full moon when its wings are spread. This nighttime-themed Pokémon measures a nice 13'01" (4 m).
This bat would dominate the skies if it were real.
4 Dawn Wings Necrozma
Once again, Necrozma’s fusion will make it even taller. Just like its counterpart Solgaleo, Lunala can fuse with Necrozma to make a new form, called Dawn Wings Necrozma.
This new form clocks in at 13'09" (4.2 m), giving it just a slight boost from regular Lunala. Still, being almost fourteen feet tall is nothing to laugh at, as it’s twice as tall as many of the world’s tallest people in history.
3 Lugia
Taking a momentary break from Necrozma and its varying forms, Lugia is one of the earliest Legendary Pokémon featured in the series. This gigantic Psychic-/Flying-type is the master of the seas for a reason: it’s insanely large and powerful.
Lugia is 17'01" (5.2 m), which is almost hard to comprehend for what is basically a large bird. Male giraffes are capable of reaching 18 feet tall (5.5 m), meaning Lugia would measure around the same height as the tallest animals in the world.
2 Hoopa Unbound
Hoopa Unbound is already a super nightmarish-looking Pokémon, even without taking its size into account. This dimension-bending monster measures approximately 21'04" (6.5 m), This is taller than the average two-story building.
Considering the fact that Hoopa Unbound can twist and bend dimensions and travel between them, and it can summon Legendary Pokémon through its hoops, it’s hard to believe that this behemoth is double-weak to Bug-type moves., but, it is.
1 Ultra Necrozma
Ultra Necrozma, is currently the tallest Psychic-type. In order to obtain this form, one of the previously-fused forms needs to use Ultra Burst.
The terrifying monster that serves as one of the final bosses of Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, stands at an amazing 24'07" (7.5 m). Not only is this huge, but it’s powerful as well, with a base stat total of 754.
