While the angry screams about Pokémon Unite still echo through the halls, it is a game that has people interested. There are a lot of questions that have been raised about the title, and one of the most interesting is what the final roster will be when the game is released. While the trailer showed it to be made up of about 80% generation one Pokémon (are we surprised?), here are ten other creatures that would be perfect to fill out the rest of the starting roster.

10 Conkeldurr

Conkeldurr would be a great representative for generation five, being the first Unovan Pokémon added to the roster. While Conkeldurr might not be the most iconic generation five Pokémon of them all, the two stone cylinders that the Pokémon carries could be very interesting to build a moveset around, using them as weapons to attack and keep enemies at bay. Conkeldurr would be a slow character, of course.

9 Scizor

Opposite Conkeldurr, Scizor is one of the most iconic generation two Pokémon, being an incredibly cool creature all around. If Scizor were included in the launch lineup, its moveset would be all about speed, dashing from point to point quicker than any Pokémon out there. In exchange for that speed, perhaps it could be a bit easy to take down. Scizor is practically made for a game like Unite.

8 Lopunny

Lopunny is in a similar sort of boat to Scizor, it is practically made to be a character in this game. Lopunny is a fighter, using its punches to send opponents flying.

While Lopunny and Lucario share the same general humanoid shape, they would be good generation four representatives together because they have opposite play styles. Lopunny is all about getting in close to deal damage, while Lucario’s Aura Sphere can allow it to fight while at a distance. As the two are iconic generation four Pokémon, they’re a great start.

7 Ampharos

Ampharos is a fun generation two Pokémon, it’s one of the cutest fully-evolved Pokémon out there. It can use its electrical abilities to shock the opposition, literally. Ampharos already has a great starting point for a moveset.

Beyond that, Ampharos’s Mega Evolution, which consists of it putting on a wig and nothing else, is perfect material for its ultimate move. The Pokémon basically has its moveset already built.

6 Milotic

Milotic is one of the most iconic generation three Pokémon hands down, even being the ace Pokémon of Champion Wallace. It is a creature that is based around its beauty, but it packs quite the punch, too. Milotic could gracefully float from point to point, dazzling your opponents before they knew what hit them. It could also unleash a powerful Surf if any Pokémon tried to stop it.

5 Ribombee

Not every Pokémon on the roster has to be a big powerhouse, Ribombee could be a great option to diversify the lineup a bit. This Alolan Bug-Type could use its size to its advantage, being hard to hit with skill shots. Beyond that, it could zip from point to point, making sure that it doesn’t incur any damage along the way. Not to mention, it would look adorable while doing it.

4 Dragapult

Dragapult and its small children will be a force on the battlfield, being a strong, defensive, and speedy Pokémon. Who else would be better to represent generation eight in Unite than Dragapult?

Its a wonderfully designed Pokémon, so it would really stand out among the crowd. Maybe for its ultimate ability it could Dynamax and literally just crush everyone else. And its children could just be larger than average Dreepy. Fantastic.

3 Heracross

When it comes to Bug-types, Heracross is one of the most notable Pokémon there is. It is one of the most beloved generation two Pokémon out there, sporting a fantastic design and a cute little personality. There are quite a few playstyles that Heracross could adopt in Unite. Does jungling exist in this game? If it does, then Heracross is the perfect candidate to take up the role.

2 Grovyle

Grovyle is easily one of the best middle evolutions in the entire franchise, looking better (and having better stats) than some fully evolved Pokémon. Its leaf blades are a really cool design element that highlight just how powerful Grovyle is, and it could lean on these weapons heavily in its moveset. On the topic of middle evolutions…

1 Floette

Floette is another middle evolution that arguably looks better than its final evolution, especially when in its Eternal Flower form.

Floette could be another character on the roster that would utilize its small form on the battlefield, flying around from point to point completely undetected, while still having the means to take care of itself. The roster of Pokémon Unite is likely going to be flooded with all sorts of big, bulky Pokémon, so every chance for a smaller Pokémon to take a spot, the better.
