Few characters in the Pokémon series have achieved the ultimate title of Champion. Whether it’s the original Pokemon Red & Blue or the new Pokemon Sword & Shield there’s at least one that you need to face in order to reach the same height, each with a different personality and style of team.

With so many Champions throughout Pokémon history, you’re bound to be similar to at least one of them. There are few better ways to describe yourself than your zodiac, so here’s each champion you’re likely to resemble based on your astrological sign.

12 Aries (March 21 - April 19): Leon

Leon is a champion made of pure positivity. He travels the world less like a modest trainer and more as a celebrity, seeking out battles and happy to be in the limelight. When you do finally beat him, he wears a smile on his face as he deems you the best trainer in Galar.

Any Aries would certainly have the same enthusiastic demeanor, being ready and excited for any challenge. This sort of eagerness can certainly end up in a few foolish and embarrassing moments, but this sort of eccentric personality is what makes both Leon and the Aries sign so distinct and approachable.

11 Taurus (April 20 - May 20): Blue

Blue becomes a much more mature trainer throughout his appearances, but in his original debut in Pokémon Red & Blue, he was far from a lovely rival. He’s ruthlessly aggressive, extremely competitive, and until you beat him at the Indigo Plateau he’s unhealthily obsessed with the power of his team.

That stubbornness is what makes him utterly reflective of a Taurus. An actual Taurus is likely not going to be as rude with their assertiveness, but just like Blue, they’re not likely to see their faults until it’s too late.

10 Gemini (May 21 - June 20): Lance

Lance feels like two champions mixed into one. While he shows up as a kind and supportive opponent to Team Rocket throughout Pokemon Gold & Silver, he’s just as quick to become an intimidating Dragon-type master when you finally face him.

Geminis aren’t typically dishonest, but they can be just as diverse in personas as Lance, who wants to be a superhero at the same time as a threatening opponent. While both sides are fun to experience, it’s clear he has trouble sticking to just one.

9 Cancer (June 21 - July 22): Trace

Rather than facing Blue as your rival, Pokemon Let’s Go, Pikachu & Let’s Go, Eevee introduces a fully new character named Trace. He quickly takes the Kanto Championship just before you face him one last time, but he’s far less intimidating and aggressive of an opponent.

He still has some of Blue’s quirks, though, namely that he’s fairly scattered. He’s far more supportive than Blue, but he’s still an assertive and determined trainer who’s working hard to beat you to the Indigo League. It’s a bizarre mix of traits, but it makes for a far more endearing trainer than a rude one.

8 Leo (July 23 - August 22): Wallace

Wallace has more artistic flair as the champion in Pokémon Emerald than any other. As a Contest Master in the anime and a former Gym Leader in the games, his pride is more outspoken than any other character in this list, from his beautiful Water-type team to his extravagant outfit.

Leos have just as much self-satisfaction and are rarely afraid to show it, having a huge need to have the attention of everyone in the room. This isn’t to say they don’t deserve it, since Leos work incredibly hard for that spotlight, but their moods can change alarmingly fast if you take it from them too quickly.

7 Virgo (August 23 - September 22): Steven

The original and Hoenn champion is an incredibly different kind of trainer than Wallace. While many champions are fond of their region, Steven takes a different approach by having a deep connection to his home’s history and mythology.

This rich historian is also a massive perfectionist, just the way that Virgos often are. The cleanliness of Steven’s preferred Steel-types is something any Virgo could admire, but more important is his knowledge of the world around him. This sort of intelligence is something most Virgos would be undoubtedly jealous of.

6 Libra (September 23 - October 22): Diantha

Diantha exudes confidence, being a famous actress who proudly displays her classiness through her bright clothing and Kalos-centric team. She has lots to handle as champion and has quite a lot of attention on her, but at no point does she come across as unsure about herself.

Libras greatly aspire for this courage, doubting every decision they make and often being unsure about whether they’re making the right choices with their time. This can sometimes lead to paranoia, but with some practice and success behind them, they often appear more like Diantha and carry themselves with certainty.

5 Scorpio (October 23 - November 21): Cynthia

Cynthia is easily one of the most difficult champions in any Pokémon game. Her team is immensely powerful, with competitive Pokémon like Garchomp and Lucario, and they make for an intense fight that average trainers can struggle against without sufficient preparation.

Scorpios can be equally intense and challenging to deal with, at their best and at their worst. They aren’t villainous, but their feelings can be strong and they know how to channel them to be productive and get what they want.

4 Sagittarius (November 22 - December 21): Alder

Alder is a remarkably elusive champion, with his first fight taking place only after you’ve defeated N and Team Plasma at the end of Pokémon Black & White. Alder shows up more sporadically than any other character on this list, both as a friend and admirer to everyone in Unova.

A Sagittarius can bounce around just as much, having trouble staying in one place and needing to experience more of the world and a wider social circle. This is not out of anxiety, but instead out of an enviable need for a diverse and adventurous life.

3 Capricorn (December 22 - January 19): Mustard

Little is currently known about Mustard, the former champion of the Galar region who’s set to debut in the Isle of Armor expansion for Pokemon Sword & Shield. From what we do know, he’s a powerful trainer who’s ready and willing to help you, and your new partner Kubfu, in this new territory.

If any champion were to help other champions like this, it’s a Capricorn. This sign is common in perfectionists, and while they can seem somewhat impersonal they simply value skill above seeming friendly, and are happy to pass those skills on so everyone can keep up.

2 Aquarius (January 20 - February 18): Red

Red is a particularly odd champion, as you don’t typically face him in the Pokémon League itself. Instead, you only ever encounter him after you’ve become Champion yourself, acting as a final challenge for you to pursue on your own.

This independent nature is also what defines an Aquarius. Red doesn’t need to be titled as a champion, and doesn’t need to brag about his talents when you finally encounter him. An Aquarius’s preference for solitude is out of modesty, and simply appreciates a peaceful life with satisfying challenges.

1 Pisces (February 19 - March 20): Iris

Iris is a kind, excited, and new champion in Unova. She easily has the most Disney-esque appearance of any champion, but beyond her extravagant appearance she also shows up throughout Pokemon Black & White 2 as an eager supporter to you in your fight against Team Plasma.

Any Pisces should be able to relate to her excitement, being happy to socialize and spend time with others any time they’re in energetic moods. Any Pieces is bound to be as good of a friend as they are a trainer, and they’ll rarely appear intimidating.
