Players have been catching Legendary Pokemon and creating hilarious memes nonstop ever since the Crown Tundra DLC was released. Legendary Pokemon have been the focus of most of the memes, which makes sense since it’s the main attraction of the second part of the Pokemon Sword & Shield Expansion Pack.
From impossible catch rates to version exclusive Pokemon and Dynamax Adventure frustrations, there are all kinds of different memes based around these packs. Here are 10 hilarious Crown Tundra memes that fans will surely enjoy.
10 Staying In The Pokéball
The Legendary Pokemon in the Crown Tundra have been notoriously hard to catch. However, there are several ways that make it more likely for a Legendary Pokemon to stay in a Pokéball, presuming a player wants to avoid using a Master Ball.
Using a Pokemon with a higher level compared to the Legendary they are trying to catch is a good strategy. Plus, players can damage the Pokemon, leave it with 1 HP, and also put it to sleep. However, none of these points seem to have been too effective in catching certain Pokemon in the newest addition to Sword & Shield.
9 Crown Tundra VS Isle Of Armour
Urshifu had its time to shine, however, the Crown Tundra has now made it possible to catch a wide variety of other Legendary Pokemon (and Ultra Beasts). All of these awesome Legendaries are only available for those that visit the Crown Tundra, and the second expansion pack has undeniably overshadowed its predecessor, the Isle of Armour.
Thankfully, the Isle of Armour came out first. Had it come out after Crown Tundra, it would have been a far more underwhelming experience to add a Urshifu to a PC box already loaded with Legendary Pokemon.
8 Version Exclusive Pokemon
Deciding which version of a Pokemon game to get is hard. Fans usually make this decision based on which Legendary Pokemon they prefer. Continuing that tradition, the Crown Tundra has divided its various Legendary Pokemon and made a few of them exclusive to a single version. For example, Groudon, Xerneas, and Solgaleo are Pokemon Sword exclusives, while Kyogre, Yveltal, and Lunala are Pokemon Shield exclusives.
Luckily, it’s possible to participate in Dynamax Adventures hosted by players that have the other version of the game and, therefore, obtain these Pokemon.
7 The Powerful Greendent
Undoubtedly, the main Legendary in a Pokemon game should be the hardest one to take down. Fans have found it amusing how an unexpected Greendent encounter could possibly be so challenging.
Shaking the notorious Crown Tundra Dyna Hill Tree will cause a powerful Dynamaxed Greendent to appear. If the Pokemon is successfully defeated, the player will obtain a large number of berries as a reward. Even though the Greedent can prove to be a tough opponent, defeating it is a great way to farm for berries.
6 Get In The Bag, Nebby
Everyone that has played Pokemon Sun & Moon should remember a Cosmog nicknamed Nebby. Nebby was a Cosmog that Lillie rescued from the Aether Foundation. She carried the Pokemon around in a bag throughout the events of the game, which led to the creation of many memes back then.
Naturally, fans grew attached to Nebby and associated its nickname to all Cosmog. Therefore, they weren’t happy when they came across another Cosmog in Pokemon Sword & Shield, this time nicknamed Fwoofy.
5 Missing Legendaries
Dynamax Adventures are one of the new features that the Crown Tundra DLC added to Pokemon Sword & Shield. By participating in these Dynamax Adventures, players get a chance to catch Legendary Pokemon once they finish their adventure in the den.
The Legendary Pokemon that appears at the end of the Dynamax Adventure is randomized. Even though Peonia will sometimes direct players towards a specific Pokemon, it might not be the one that appears, which can be frustrating. However, this has inspired certain fans to create memes about the situation.
4 Galarian Articuno, Why?
Galarian Articuno has lost its Ice-type and is now a Psychic-type Pokemon. This makes it so it is no longer immune to hail. It can be quite bothersome as the Legendary Bird is most often encountered in the hail. So, many players have to reset their game because Articuno faints due to the weather’s damage it suffers.
A way to counter this is by using an item switching move and giving Safety Goggles to Galarian Articuno. Alternatively, Sunny Day can be set up so that the hail disappears.
3 Wish Upon A Star
A big part of Dynamax Adventures is playing with others and cooperating as the players progress deeper into the den. However, not everyone is interested in doing so.
There are players that are distracted and forget to select their move, others that don’t care about type advantages, and some that would rather switch Pokemon even though someone on their team is in worse shape than they are. There are even those that attack their own teammates.
All of these unfortunate situations have inspired fans to create memes.
2 Beating Zygarde
The Pokemon community has agreed among itself that Zygarde is the hardest Pokemon to beat during a Dynamax Adventure. The “Are you winning, dad?” meme is more than perfect to describe this specific battle.
The battle is insanely hard especially once the Pokemon transforms due to its Power Construct ability. The transformation boosts its bulk immensely. Various guides have been written and shared within the community, trying to find the best strategy to successfully defeat and catch Zygarde.
Zygarde is one of the most difficult shiny Pokemon to obtain due to the low success rate when it comes to beating it.
1 Shiny Encounters
Many fans just love getting their hands on Shinies, which are very rare color variants of Pokemon. This has led to players spending countless amounts of hours Shiny Hunting, using various different methods to increase their odds at finding one.
The odds of encountering a Shiny Pokemon during a Dynamax Adventure are incredibly high compared to encountering one in the wild. Players now have a 1/300 chance of coming across a Shiny during one of these Adventures, 1/100 if they have the Shiny Charm item. However, some fans have not had any luck, in spite of their repeated attempts.
