Every new generation of Pokemon introduces us to a batch of fun new characters. These might be fun in the gameplay sense, the narrative sense, or, most importantly, the “let’s make a bunch of memes based on this one” sense. And the best part is that it’s never clear which characters the internet will adopt for its crazy purposes.

For the latest games, Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield, everyone’s creative sights were set on the female playable character, who the fans affectionately dubbed the “Scottish Pokemon Trainer.” With little to go off of other than her attire, fans and artists have done what they do best and created many hilarious comics and memes based on this new fan-favorite heroine.

10 There Seems To Be A Language Barrier

Not everyone can fit into every social group. This fact is seen even in the world of Pokemon. And judging by this comic, Scottish Trainer learned this lesson the awkward way. Well, maybe it was only awkward for all of the other trainers.

While not really a surprise, Scottish Trainer doesn’t seem to be bothered by other trainer’s lack of comprehension. She continues to tell her story regardless of who can even understand her. She has a point to make, and she’s going to make it no matter what. You have to respect that level of confidence.

9 There Seems To Be A Bit Of A Rivalry

What would any Pokemon trainer be without a proper rival? Everyone in the world of Pokemon seems to have at least one person who follows them around, bent on vanquishing their competition in some climactic battle. It almost seems like a right of passage for every prepubescent adventurer.

The question that needs to ask is which one of these characters is the aggressor. Scottish Trainer doesn’t seem to be afraid to pick a fight, as you’ll see later on, so it’s easy to believe she isn’t the “protagonist” of this situation.

8 Nessa Isn’t A Fan Of Scottish Trainer’s Beverage Choice

Gym leaders need to keep themselves in top physical shape. Endless waves of trainers visit their gyms every day to seek the chance to challenge the masters for recognition and glory. And some leaders, such as Nessa here, take bodily health very seriously.

So, it’s understandable why she might not be exactly thrilled with Scottish Trainer’s preferred drink. While the drink will certainly help calm her nerves before an intense Pokemon battle, it’s not going to help with the hydration issue. There’s also the small detail that Scottish Trainer is between 10 and 12 years old.

7 Well, She Is A Team Player

Scottish Trainers seems to have her entire battle strategy all figured out. Some trainers spend days prepping their teams and learning the best moves and items to use in a fight. This enthusiastic trainer here seems to prefer the options that bring instant results.

Her preferred path to victory seems to be laden with simplicity, gusto, and those ever-reliable fiery explosions. She could probably stand to create some decent backup plans, but considering how she is, she’d probably never need to use them. Her style might seem rough, but hey, if it works, it works.

6 When the G.O.A.T.’s Goat Is Also The G.O.A.T.

Even law enforcement seems to have trouble reigning Scottish Trainer in. All of those Officer Jennies seemed so determined at first as they prepared to gang up on a child. That attitude certainly changed quickly. Anyone would reconsider their career choice if they were suddenly forced to stare down a ticked off Dynamax Blitzle.

And it’s Scottish Trainer’s Blitzle no less. You know she’s trained her Blitzle to fight dirty, so there’s little chance the detective or the officers have anything in their Pokeballs that is going to put up a fight.

5 Sometimes, Unwavering Loyalty Can Be A Bit Too Unwavering

Sometimes things escalate quickly. It’s understandable for a trainer to be attached to their Pokemon, to want to protect them at all cost. They’ve spent so much time with them. These aren’t just pets, they are their partners and friends.

But some trainers can take it a bit too far. Looks like Scottish Trainer is one such example. No one should be surprised by this point, but it’s still a bit unnerving to hear. The fact that she feels this level of devotion for Wooloo after only one day is alarming too. Everyone in the Galar region better pray that nothing happens to her furry friend.

4 This Probably Wasn’t The Greeting Nessa Expected

People seem to have very memorable experiences interacting with Scottish Trainer. And the people who are familiar with her understand the importance of staying on her good side. The problem seems to be that her good side only shows up once in a blue moon.

Poor Nessa here had no clue what she was getting into when she greeted the younger challenger. There’s an awful large attitude hiding inside that small package, and Scottish Trainer is more than ready to unleash it when she’s looking for a fight.

3 Scottish Trainer Seems To Enjoy Making A Distinct First Impression

At least Nessa can rest easy in the fact that it isn’t just her. Turns out, Scottish Trainer has a bone to pick with every trainer that looks her way. Is she eager for a Pokemon battle, or does she just enjoy the shocked look on their faces when she lets loose?

You have to wonder if Scottish Trainer’s seemingly innocent appearance isn’t a purposeful tactic to draw in unsuspecting challengers. Everyone is always ready to compliment her, and they always let their guard down right before she belts out obscenities and demands that they battle. She’s a clever one, that’s for sure.

2 And We Thought The Rivalry Between Red And Blue Was Intense

Always looking for a fight, this girl. Leaf is minding her own business, looking for new Pokemon to catch, but Scottish Trainer isn’t having it. That’s Scottish Trainer’s fluffy Wooloo, and the giant Pokeball is her special way of letting Leaf know to stay away.

Leaf at least shows a willingness to throw it back at Scottish Trainer, both figuratively and literally. The previous girls that Scottish Trainer tangled with might have taken the abuse, but Leaf’s not about to take it lying down. Maybe Scottish Trainer has finally met her match with this one?

1 Lesson Learned: Don’t Mess With Scorbunny

Don’t mess with Scorbunny. Just, don’t do it. She might be a trainer, but this little Scottish terror is ready to let out her inner Hitmonchan on anyone who would dare hurt her fiery, furry friend.

It’s hard to blame the other trainer for simply watching in horror as his Gyarados, a giant sea monster, is knocked senseless by a pre-teen. He probably doesn’t want to be next. And who could blame him? Poke Centers can heal his Pokemon in seconds. He’d be in a hospital bed for weeks.
