Many different Legendary Pokemon make their home in the Unova region; however, one of the strongest of these creatures is the Electric- and Dragon-type Pokemon Zekrom. Zekrom is a black Pokemon that is very large and uses mostly Electric-type attacks to defeat its opponents.
Even though Zekrom is a popular Pokemon and has been present in many different Pokemon video games over the years, there is still a lot that is overlooked about Zekrom among the fan base.
10 Zekrom Weighs 760 Pounds
Zekrom weighs a whopping 760 pounds, which makes it massive in weight when compared to most other Pokemon in the franchise. It is easy to see why Zekrom would weigh this much when looking at its general appearance and how large its torso and limbs are.
One of the most interesting things about Zekrom is that it is able to fly despite its large weight and body.

Although Zekrom may seem like a terrifying Pokemon when looking at its overall appearance, it’s actually one of the most helpful legendaries that the Pokemon world has ever seen.
Zekrom wishes to help any human that wants to create a better world for all of the creatures that reside within it. This fact isn’t well known about Zekrom, especially because this creature has a terrifying presence, and most trainers imagine that it wouldn’t be willing to aid in the mission of making the world a better place.
8 Zekrom Has Very Small Wings Compared To Its Body Size
As previously stated, Zekrom is able to soar through the skies at record paces; however, it cannot float in a magical way similar to a lot of other Pokemon in the franchise.
Instead, Zekrom has small wings behind its body that are easy to mistake for extra arms or design decorations if it isn’t inspected thoroughly upon catching it. Zekrom’s wings are much smaller when compared to a Pokemon such as Lugia, which is why most trainers don’t even realize it has wings at all. It is strange that Zekrom can fly so quickly with its relatively small wings.
7 Zekrom Produces Electricity With Its Tail
Zekrom is an Electric-type Pokemon, and it is able to create electricity through its tail. Most Electric-type Pokemon in the franchise have electricity that is created somewhere in their body, and Zekrom uses its tail to perform Electric-type attacks such as Thunderbolt.
Not only is Zekrom able to create electricity using its tail, but it is also able to perform a diverse range of attacks that use other types that are found in the Pokemon franchise. A lot of these attacks are made up of Dragon-type and Flying-type moves.
6 Zekrom Is Only 9 Feet Tall
Although Zekrom weighs over 700 pounds, it actually isn’t very tall compared to other Legendaries. Zekrom only stands at 9 feet tall, and although this is tall when compared to humans and some non-Legendary Pokemon, it isn’t especially large for a Legendary Pokemon.
For reference, Pokemon such as Groudon stand at over eleven feet tall, and because of this, Zekrom is actually on the shorter side when it comes to the bigger Pokemon that are found in the wild.
5 Zekrom’s Ability Is Teravolt
Zekrom has a unique ability called Teravolt, which is themed around its Electric-typing. This ability allows Zekrom to use moves against other Pokemon even if their abilities restrict them from being damaged from the type of move in question.
For example, if a Pokemon is immune to damage from Electric-type attacks because they have the ability Lightning Rod, then they will still take damage from Zekrom’s Electric-type attacks. This is an incredibly useful ability that allows for Zekrom to damage Pokemon that other Electric-type creatures wouldn’t be able to hit.
4 Zekrom’s Tail Is Green In Its Shiny Form
Zekrom’s tail usually glows a blue color; however, in its shiny form, it has a green color instead. This is the most notable change of Zekrom’s shiny form because it doesn’t change its color scheme very much. Most Legendaries have unique shiny forms, but Zekrom’s isn’t significantly different.
If a shiny Zekrom was encountered in the wild, it would be difficult to realize that it was shiny unless its tail was used for reference. The green glow that Zekrom’s tail has in its shiny form makes it look especially unique.
3 Zekrom Shares Many Similarities With Zapdos
Zapdos and Zekrom have more in common than may be initially realized when thinking about these two Pokemon. Zekrom and Zapdos are both Electric-types, and they’re both part of powerful Legendary trios that happened to use Electric-types, Ice-types, and Fire-types as the primary elements.
On top of these two similarities, Zekrom and Zapdos are also able to take flight, and they both have wings. These two creatures are also Legendary Pokemon, making all of their coincidences even more interesting.
2 Zekrom Is Capable Of Fusing With Kyurem
Zekrom is one of the only Pokemon that has been introduced into the franchise that is capable of fusing with another Pokemon. Kyurem is part of the same Legendary trio as Zekrom, and the two of them can fuse to make an even stronger Legendary creature called Black Kyurem.
Reshiram and Kyurem can also fuse to create a different form separate from Zekrom and Kyurem’s fusion called White Kyurem.
1 Zekrom Covers Its Body With Clouds Of Lightning
While Zekrom is soaring through the skies of the Unova region, it can cover itself with lightning clouds to hide from people and Pokemon that may see it and attack it.
This strategy is especially helpful for Zekrom when trying to evade being captured by a trainer that would use it for evil purposes. Even if Zekrom happened to get into a battle with another Pokemon or a trainer, it could most likely defend itself since it is so much stronger than the majority of Pokemon that reside in the Unova region.
