Pokemon GO, despite being a game about getting up and going outside to hunt for digital Pokemon, was quick to adapt to the new COVID-19 coronavirus lockdowns impacting the entire world. Now a new event featuring incense will continue this trend.

Pokemon GO has made several changes since the coronavirus outbreak, doing its part to encourage players to stay home and play instead of going outside. Of course, that hasn’t stopped everyone, with some players being charged by police for playing Pokemon GO during the quarantine.

Pokemon GO’s new event, Incense Day: Type Shuffle, will introduce a new mechanic for utilizing incense. Instead of the incense drawing in random Pokemon, Sentret in particular will be drawn in by incense throughout the day. If a player isn’t after Sentret in particular, there’s no worries, as Pokemon GO will be shifting through an hourly schedule of certain types of Pokemon showing up in response to the incense.

Hour by hour, this is what players can expect.

  • 11:00 am - 12:00 pm: Water-type Pokemon will respond to incense, including Poliwag, Tentacool, and Spheal, with a rare chance of Clamperl spawning. 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm: Fire-type Pokemon will be attracted to incense, including Growlithe, Ponyta, and Houndour, with Litwick as the rare spawn. 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm: Grass-type Pokemon Oddish, Roselia, and Lileep will spawn, plus a rare spawn of Ferroseed. 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm: Psychic-type Pokemon Slowpoke, Baltoy, and Bronzor can be expected to be drawn to incense, plus a rare spawn of Gothita. 3:00pm - 4:00pm: Bug-type Pokemon will start to spawn during these hours, including Caterpie, Ledyba, Skourupi, and rare spawn Joltik. 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm: Last but not least, Ground-type Pokemon get their time to shine, with Wooper, Barboach, and Hippopotas spawning frequently and Drilbur available as a rare spawn.

If players are low on incense, Pokemon GO has a solution for that, too. A single three-pack of incense will be available in the shop for a single PokeCoin.

Although one would expect that the quarantine would have put a damper on Pokemon GO and Niantic’s other augmented reality games, the company has actually seen an increase in revenue since the coronavirus outbreak began. The company also recently introduced remote raids and decreased the need to visit PokeStops, so players have plenty of reason to boot up the game without leaving the comfort and safety of their homes.

Pokemon GO is available now for mobile devices.
