Yesterday’s Pokemon Let’s Go announcement was so full of details and news that it’s pretty easy to miss something. For Pokemon GO enthusiasts, the integration with the mobile AR game is obviously one of the most exciting touches. Some details left out of the trailer suggest that PoGO players may be extra interested in this new Poke Ball Plus peripheral, as well.

One of the most popular questions on Twitter and Reddit right after the trailer reveal was “Can the Poke Ball Plus replace the GO Plus?” Although the trailer was unclear about everything the Poke Ball Plus could do, the device’s website makes it clear that the Poke Ball Plus does function a lot like the GO Plus (hopefully with less bugs…).

Here are the details that have been release so far…

The Pokemon GO Plus device is not perfect by any stretch, but it does help speed the game up and makes distance travelled for egg hatching slightly more accurate (though not much). Hopefully if the Poke Ball Plus has many of the same features, some improvements will have been made, as well.

“Play Pokémon GO without checking your smartphone screen. When a Pokémon appears nearby, Poké Ball Plus will light up and vibrate. A simple button press lets you throw a virtual Poké Ball, and different LED light patterns will let you know if you’ve caught the Pokémon.

As long as your Poké Ball Plus is connected to your smartphone and the Pokémon GO app, it will also count your steps so you can hatch Eggs and get Candy for your Buddy Pokémon.”

The Poke Ball Plus doesn’t have a release date listed just yet, but it seems likely that it will arrive around the same time Pokemon Let’s Go does in mid November.

There is currently no release date announced for the Poke Ball Plus.
