When Pokemon GO first kicked off, evolving every Pokemon was a simple matter of collecting the proper amount of a certain candy type. But as the game began to expand, so to did the evolution tactics, which now range from the classic candy requirements to buddy achievements and even weather conditions.

Goomy is one such new addition to Pokemon GO, dependent on the weather to make its evolution. Below you will find everything you need to know about catching and evolving Goomy into Sliggoo and eventually its final evolution, Goodra.

How To Catch A Goomy

Goomy is a sixth-generation Dragon-type pokemon. While its evolutions, Sliggoo and Goodra, won’t likely be found roaming Pokemon Go’s overworld, Goomy has been an uncommon sighting since the recent Luminous Legends event.

Because Goomy sightings are rather rare, you’ll want to use a Pinap Berry for every catch to make quicker work of collecting all those candies. A Silver Pinap Berry would be even better as it would also help secure your chances of capturing the Goomy in the first place.

Using Rainy Lures

Despite being a dragon species, this evolution chain has a unique preference for water and will only undergo its evolutions in the rain. You could simply wait for a rainy day, but why not try out the new Rainy Lure that was added to the roster of type-specific lures back in May?

As you might expect, type-specific Lure Modules work the same way as standard Lure Modules, except they attract only certain pokemon types. The Rainy Lure Module, in particular, attracts pokemon species of the Water, Electric, and Bug varieties.

Evidently, none of those is the Dragon-type. However, you aren’t looking to lure a Goomy with these modules but to evolve one. Rainy Lure Modules can be used to evolve Goomy and Sliggoo, as the Rainy Lure provides the requisite weather conditions for the evolution chain.

Trainers can find Rainy Lures in the in-game Pokeshop for 200 pokecoins.

How To Increase Your Goomy Candy Collection

The only other requirement you’ll need to meet is an adequate number of Goomy candies. You’ll need a grand total of 125 Goomy candies to evolve Goomy into Goodra fully. Evolving Goomy into Sliggoo costs 25 candies, then another 100 to complete the evolution chain.

You can get candy by:

  • Catching that particular species of pokemon. Walking with that pokemon as your buddy. Feeding berries to that particular species of pokemon in a gym. Transferring pokemon will earn one candy for that species with each transfer. Hatching Eggs is a shot in the dark but will offer the most candy rewards if you happen to hatch the correct species.

Once you have candy and the rain, Sliggoo and Goodra can be yours.
