This cute little ghost is the first in a pretty popular three-stage evolution family that boasts a potential for high Defense and Special Defense. If you want this solid choice to fill the Ghost type niche in your team, here’s how to find and evolve Duskull into Dusknoir in Pokémon Sword & Shield.

Finding Duskull

The first place you can find this little guy is in a chance encounter in Route 6, but to a slightly lacking 18% encounter rate. Your best bet will be to unlock the second part of the Wild Area and look for Duskull in the overworld encounters of Giant’s Seat during foggy weather or the Watchtower Ruins during any weather (although the highest encounter rate occurs during overcast weather).

Evolving Duskull into Dusclops, then Dusknoir

Duskull will naturally evolve into Dusclops at level 37. Dusclops, on the other hand, requires a trade while holding the Reaper Cloth to evolve into Dusknoir. You can get the Reaper Cloth from a lucky day at the Bargain Shop in Stow-On-Side, or grind some BP to get it from the Hammerlocke BP shop.

Dusknoir Moveset

Dusknoir doesn’t have a particularly notable movekit, so it’s all up to player style: keeping one of it status-inflicting moves from earlier (such as Will-O-Wisp or Confuse Ray) to pair with Hex would be a good combination. Holding onto Payback is also a good choice, as Dusknoir’s low speed means it’s usually going on the second turn when matched up against an equal level pokémon.
