At long last, Pokemon Go’s most loveable and hateable Pokémon is getting a Shiny version. An official Pokemon Go update has revealed that Shiny Bidoof will be making its debut as part of the upcoming Bidoof Breakout event starting Friday, June 25.

Bidoof has been around since the days of Pokemon Diamond and Pearl, but it continues to be the source of lovable ridicule across the internet. No one can seem to agree whether it’s adorably derpy or annoyingly useless, and its laughable infamy has made it one of the most memeable Pokemon around. Bidoof also happens to be on the list of Pokemon that doesn’t yet have a Shiny version in Pokemon Go—but that’s about to change.

Rumors about the arrival of Shiny Bidoof have been circulating for quite a while now, even as early as 2020. Fans speculated that because 2020 was the year of the rat, Pokemon Go might take the opportunity to introduce fans to Shiny Bidoof. Unfortunately that didn’t turn out to be the case, and hopes of finally seeing the Shiny Pokemon went dormant. Now, after what seems like ages of anticipation, Shiny Bidoof is headbutting its way into existence.

Although Shiny Bidoof is certainly the highlight of the Bidoof Breakout event, it is not the only surprise that’s in store. Throughout the weeklong event, Bidoof will appear much more often in the wild, and they’ll know attacks that they normally can’t learn. Which attacks those might be will depend on when exactly you encounter them:

  • Shadow Ball: From Friday, June 25 at 10:00 a.m. to Saturday, June 26 at 11:59 p.m. local time Thunderbolt: From Sunday, June 27 at 12:00 a.m. to Monday, June 28 at 11:59 p.m. local time Ice Beam: From Tuesday, June 29 at 12:00 a.m. to Wednesday, June 30 at 11:59 p.m. local time

Players will also be able to teach these attacks to Bidoof on Thursday, July 1, 2021, from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. local time using a Charged TM, and after the event using an Elite Charged TM. And if that wasn’t enough, they will be able to evolve Bidoof anytime during the event to get a Bibarel that knows Hyper Beam.

In addition to these extra attacks, players can expect other features as part of the event. Team Go Rocket will take part in the Bidoof Breakout by turning more Bidoof into Shadow Pokemon, and Bidoof Gift stickers will be up for grabs at spinning PokeStops and by opening gifts. There will also be progressively larger Catch XP multipliers throughout the week as in-game bonuses.

And just when you thought there couldn’t possibly be more Bidoof-related surprises, more details are to come on Monday, June 28, 2021. Ready or not, here the Bidoof come!
