PC gamers do not always get the best version of the game they love. Sometimes video games are released in a flawed state, or maybe the developers didn’t tap the engine’s full potential. Either way, it is not unusual to see beloved games being improved by their own community.

Mods have always been a part of PC gaming, and it is no different with Prey. Although the game is great, there are many ways to improve its graphics or change its gameplay. Some of these mods alter the experience to such a degree that many Prey fans consider them essential.

7 Real Lights Plus Ultra Graphics By Jmx777

Prey looks really good, but this mod can make it look even better. Real Lights Plus Ultra Graphics is a mod that is meant to improve graphics and effects. It modifies many things in the game’s lighting, providing more realistic graphics and light behavior. Bethesda might be one of the best FPS developers, but it doesn’t mean that their games cannot be improved.

Not only it corrects shadows for the original light sources, but it also improves particles and reflections. It also prevents texture and shadow pop-ins, and even adds new effects. This mod is perfect for anyone who intends to have the best possible visual experience with the game.

6 Immersion Mod By JRavens

Sometimes, the HUD of a game might be the very thing that kills the immersion. Even though Prey is one of the most immersive first person shooters, it is much easier to be lost in a game if constant distractions are completely removed from it. Or at least, this is exactly what the creator of this mod had in mind.

Immersion Mod by JRavens allows players to turn off certain elements from the HUD in order to make the game feel less like a videogame. The mod allows the removal of the crouch icon, the flashlight icon, enemy alerts, enemy markers, and many other things. It does make the game much harder, but some might consider that immersive as well.

5 Nitro’s True New Game Plus By ProudNitro

Prey’s New Game Plus is not what most players were expecting. Unlike other games, the game does not let players keep the gear they had from previous saves. Because of that, many players do not think New Game Plus is as fun as it could have been. That exact mindset was what caused ProudNitro to come up with True New Game Plus.

According to the creator of the mod, it will work even if the final level was not yet finished. The objective of the mod is to grant players all the weapons of the game by the time they head off to Hardware Labs. ProudNitro recommends All The Chipsets mod by RJ Williams to start the game with all chipsets.

4 Prey 2017 Randomizer by Tsundereployer.

Some players like a game so much they will play it repeatedly. When that happens, inevitably, those players will eventually know how to face all challenges in the best possible way. Eventually, the game becomes predictable and even boring. Thankfully, we have Tsudereployer’s mod.

With a randomizer, though, the challenges will always be different and fresh. Tsundereployer’s mod randomizes Enemy spawns, but it goes beyond that. It can also randomize music, voice lines, station connectivity, and many other things. Randomizing voice lines and NPC models is especially funny. Players can use this mod for the challenge, but it is also good for giggles. It might not be one of the funniest mods out there, but it is a great mod.

3 Detailed Tooltips by RoSoDude

Many times, developers will choose not to provide details about a creature’s resistance, or a weapon’s feature. The thought process behind this decision is often based on the intended experience. Many times, developers just want to incentivize experimentation, trial and error, and community interaction. However, we know that most will end up going to a wiki page to know what they want.

Knowing that basic truth of the gaming world, RoSoDude decided to create a mod that shows Neuromod and Chipset descriptions up to their numerical details. Not only that, but the mod also reveals the damage resistance of the enemies in the research data.

2 Prey Re-Engineered By Lochlanntt

Players do not have to think a game is perfect to be able to enjoy it. And since that is the case, many have ideas to tweak or fix the parts of the gameplay they dislike. Lochlanntt seems to be one of the people who had great ideas to improve the gameplay, so he made a mod.

Pre Re-Engineered changes many different gameplay elements. No change is drastic, but it does make the game feel different. According to the creator of the mod, the intent is to make the game more challenging, realistic, and consistent.

1 Prey Interface Customizer By Methanhydrat

There are many players who think that the game would benefit from being slightly different. When that player makes mods, fans of the game are gifted with yet another way to play the game.

Prey Interface Customizer comes with the possibility of tweaking many different things. The interface is clearly one of them, but the mod goes way beyond. It allows players to skip intro videos, disable motion blur, set the image sharpening amount, or disable the crouch vignette, force PS4 controller prompts, and many other things. There is a lot to
