Princess Connect Re:Dive is the newest North American mobile gacha game launch for CyGames. In this story, you play a Knight who begins the plot suffering from amnesia. His main power is more or less being able to boost the powers of others. Princess Connect’s playing style is extremely unique in that you don’t control the moves of the characters, it’s all automatic. They fight on their own while you boost and support them when they need it.

Each girl has a different specialty and their place in the composition of five depends on what that is. The DPS characters will automatically be on the front, while the support ones will be in the back. Your success is all dependent on what team compositions you pick. Since the drop rates in the game are fairly generous, it’s easy to accumulate lots of characters right away, but this can be overwhelming since your team is limited to five in battles. Also, don’t be confused by the rarity rating system in the game; most characters start out with 1 or 2 stars because it’s up to you to level them their ranking into 5 or 6-star units. A majority of the weaker ones are those who can go up to 6-star. Here is a ranking of the best girls to focus on leveling as a beginner player!

10 Suzume

This maid can clean a filthy house like no other, but when it comes to her using magic, you may either want to find shelter or duck for cover, as Suzume magic is known to end in Nutty Professor-like explosions. While not the hardest hitter off the bat, her AOE offensive magic hits come in handy for chipping away the health of the weak enemies in the beginning stages of the game. Suzume can also debuff the physical defense of opponents, but this skill is random so it’s not wise to always depend on it. She also becomes more powerful later on when she gets her unique equipment; this is the stat improving special item every character eventually earns that’s tailored in mind specifically for them.

9 Yui

Sweetheart Yui is part of your initial team of free units and while a great healer, she does require some rank increasing in order to utilize her skills properly and really shine in battle.

One can never have too many healers though, so even if you get a better one she’s still a must to train. Yui suffers from self-esteem issues since she’s always the one being protected, so it’s up to the player to get her strong and confident.

8 Pecorine

A true foodie with a talent for the best flavors, she likes to eat just as much as she does to fight. Pecorine is a front line sword user with a pretty balanced amount of skills that combine the perfect amount of sustainability and power. This royal lady is also very easy to Bloom for newcomers. Bloom here simply means raising up the rank of your characters which in turn makes their stats stronger. The reason she ranks so low is that she’s easily replaced by units with similar mechanics you can get in the gacha who are better and require a little less investment.

7 Chika

Chika is a support unit that summons spirits with her singing voice, though she doesn’t quite like to sing in front of people if she can avoid it. This backline healing unit both supports your team and reduces the power of your enemies, making her a two biter of power. Do keep in mind however that she cannot heal any allies behind her, so you’ll need to plan your compositions accordingly. Her skills specifically buff physical attacks, so avoid putting her in with too many other magic-based units. This goes for fighting enemies with physical attacks as well.

6 Eriko

Kusu kusu kusu — when one hears this sound, it’s time to run because it means Eriko the Destroyer is ready to shower her love on you. Surprisingly, when she’s not obsessing over soulmates, this fiend is actually quite sweet to her friends in her guild the Twilight Caravan.

If you can muscle past her borderline terrifying stage five clinger personality, Eriko is a fantastic single target ax wielder whose Unga Bunga power gets stronger the more enemies she knocks out. Not to mention the name of her special attack, Deadly Punishment, is pretty badass. Just don’t let her put any cursed rings on you.

5 Kyaru

Kyaru is a little reserved and shy at first, but like any typical feline, she’ll come around when she wants to. There are a lot more secrets to her story than it initially seems and while the revealed twists might get confusing, it’s important to give her a chance. Now while Nanako shouldn’t be too hard to pull from the gacha, Kyaru works similarly if you can’t and she’s one of the free starters. This pussycat has a magic special attack (called Union Bursts in-game) that hits all enemies and a skill that hits one enemy. You’ll need to be vigilant about leveling all her stats in order for her to do significant damage later, but it’s definitely worth it.

4 Lima

All Lima the fluffy llama truly wants is for people to accept her for her appearance. However, she is far from insecure and has a fairly positive outlook on life. In fact, Lima considers herself just as human as anyone else. Combining floof with power, this hoofed heroine marches through the front lines as an AOE hitter.

She’s worth investing in because while her initial special attack does modest damage, it becomes something completely different when you get her rank up to 6* later. Instead of just damage, it now increases both her defense and the defense of your allies, combining power and tank force all in one, as well as being able to knock back enemies.

3 Kokkoro

Kokkoro is the very first character the player meets in the game. She has been sent to guide and watch over them while they continue to regain their lost memories. Kokkoro is taking care of you every step of the way, so ignoring her would frankly be pretty cruel regardless of her moderate skills. This poor girl has to (hilariously) keep watching you be familiar with dozens of girls, so it’s important to show you appreciate her. A midline magic-user, her special attack comes in handy by buffing both physical attack and magic for allies.

2 Nanaka

Nobody ever said magic users were only for support. Sporting a Magical Girl-inspired outfit, this adorable nerd supports love and justice for all. The boss with the most HP left will be the target of her special attack Nanaka Infinite Blast. Her skills that buff said magic and knock down the magical defense of opponents make her the perfects arts girl to invest in right away. Plus since she’ll be in the backline, she won’t be as susceptible to damage as the units for the front can sometimes be.

1 Miyako

Possibly one of the cutest ghost children ever, there’s no reason to be scared of this spirit. Unless that is you have her favorite thing in the entire world which is pudding, then fully prepare to be haunted until you hand it over. A single target tanker with a self-healing power, this little dessert-loving poltergeist is a saving grace when it comes to fighting physical attack enemies. As a ghost, she has skills that let her turn invisible, increasing her ability to evade opponents. Should you be lucky enough to get her, you’ll be in good shape for a while as far as having tank units goes.
