Psychonauts 2 gameplay will be unveiled at the next Inside Xbox presentation.
Yeah, we know that Microsoft said that there’d be gameplay at the last Inside Xbox and that didn’t exactly turn out to be true, but this time we’re getting told by Double Fine Studios that their long-awaited sequel is definitely going to showcase some gameplay in July.
Psychonauts 2 was originally going to be shown at this year’s E3, but that got canceled along with so much else of 2020 thanks to the coronavirus pandemic. Now instead, Psychonauts will show off how far it’s come in July’s Inside Xbox.
“As our good pal Matt Booty announced yesterday on Inside Xbox 20/20,” wrote studio head Tim Schafer on the game’s latest Fig campaign update, “there will be an Xbox Game Studios focussed showcase in July, and Psychonauts 2 will be a part of it, oh yes!”
Production of Psychonauts 2 seems to be moving along despite last year’s delay. Gameplay and cinematic footage were revealed at last year’s E3 (which you can take a look at here), so we’re expecting the next Inside Xbox to showcase a nearly finished game. Psychonauts 2 is expected to release sometime this year on all platforms, including Xbox One, PS4, and PC, but we might even get a version for the Xbox Series X.
