PUBG’s latest event is only for the outdoorsy types.
And we don’t just mean those who dislike automatic weapons and the trappings of a modern civilization. We mean those folks who prefer to become one with the trees and fire projectiles made out of wood over lead.
On their most recent event announcement, the developers of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds announced that their latest weekend event will be all about crossbows and ghillie suits. Only real nature lovers need apply.
Let’s get down in the dirt for some deets. Weapons are crossbows and melee only, so that means the only thing that will fly faster than a pan will be a crossbow bolt. No guns of any sort will spawn on the map. Which, by the way, will be everyone’s favorite Erangel.
We know, you’d have preferred something a little less classic and a little more modern like Miramar, but there wouldn’t be much use for ghillie suits in the desert.
Incidentally, ghillie suits will be a more common spawn this time around, loading in with the rest of the location’s lootables. Although no guns will spawn, consumables such as painkillers, bandages, and medkits will still show up along with the usual assortment of smoke, frag, and flash grenades. No word was mentioned on the likes of helmets or body armor, but with the increased ghillie suit occurrence expect them to be somewhat rarer.
Scopes and other attachments for the crossbow will also spawn but will be limited to 2x, 3x, and 4x magnification. Scopes with better zoom will not spawn. Also not spawning are vehicles, so everyone will have to run around on foot. Other no-gos are care packages and red zones, so be thankful you won’t have to hoof it out of an explosion
The weather is locked on “sunny” and the first safe zone will always be dead center on the map, so make your way inward no matter where you drop.
Crossbow and ghillie suit madness starts Thursday, May 24 at 7 PM PDT and continues to Sunday, May 27 at the same time. And as the devs said, “Best of luck, and remember if archery isn’t your strong suit you can always just pan people to death.”
Wise words.
