QuakeCon at Home raised a bunch of cash for very worthy causes over the past weekend.

Last weekend was QuakeCon at Home, the online convention that took over for the regular QuakeCon when it became clear that going to Texas for an in-person event would result in everyone dying of COVID. While the event wasn’t quite as exciting as previous years, it was still filled with plenty of notable events, such as the livestreams about DOOM Eternal and The Elder Scrolls: Online, the DOOM and Quake competitive finals, and even a live example of how buggy Fallout 76 still is over a year since release.

Also, there was some free stuff in the form of a DOOM Slayer skin for DOOM Eternal. Can’t argue with free.

And there’s going to be some more free stuff given away even after the convention has ended. This didn’t make many headlines, but QuakeCon at Home was also raising money for charity over the course of the entire convention. Those charities included the NAACP Legal Defense Fund, The Trevor Project (an organization devoted to suicide prevention in LGBTQ teens), UNICEF, and Direct Relief.

QuakeCon raised $30,686.48, which will be spent on all four charities. To celebrate, Bethesda is giving away free copies of Quake II and Quake III for anyone willing to download the Bethesda.net launcher. You can get Quake II starting on August 12, and Quake III starting on August 17.
