Early access games are in no short supply, especially if you are playing on PC. These games generally sell at a cheaper price point with limited content. It can be a bit of a risk when buying these games, as there is no promise of more updates, and some games never get out of early access.

Raft is a small survival project that quickly became popular thanks to Youtubers finding the title. It has now made its way to Steam and has been selling especially well. If you’re a bit nervous about early access titles, then you may be sleeping on this fun game. Below are ten reasons why you should go ahead and purchase Raft.

11 Chapter Two Update

The Chapter Two update added in a ton of new features to bring players back to the game. Some of the biggest additions included new story content, the ability to use zip lines, and Caravan Town. This adds a huge goal for players to work towards while introducing more challenge into the game.

There is even a new enemy called butler bots that lure players in with their friendly nature.

10 The Concept is Unique

While you may have looked at franchises like Stranded Deep in the past, Raft is an entirely different game. You are tasked with surviving while trapped at sea in a world that appears to have almost completely sunken beneath the waves. You must adapt to living on a manmade structure to live.

This creates several different types of unique challenges that many other games haven’t touched on.

9 Multiplayer Works Well

A lot of early access games won’t have multiplayer, or, if they do, the multiplayer will be buggy. Luckily, Raft is a game that seems to have gotten multiplayer functions down from the start. You can make your own world or join a friend’s using passwords, and, once in, you both get hooks to start the game with.

There are a variety of perks to having a multiplayer game that fans will love.

8 Trash Collecting is Addicting

In order to build up your raft, you must navigate yourself through floating trash. Using the edge of your raft or your trusty hook, you will need to pick up the floating debris from the water. By collecting trash, you are able to build onto your raft and craft different items to help you survive.

You can spend hours at a time trying to collect enough materials for a single house in the game.

7 Sense of Adventure

Raft doesn’t have any maps to follow, making it give you a sense of adventure. You are at the seas mercy as you drift along the ocean, hoping to see another human. You never know when an upcoming island will have supplies you need on it or just be filled with a single watermelon.

You can even go days at sea without seeing any type of land or signs of human life.

6 Creating Rafts

Creating rafts in the game is addicting. You are given several different shapes to work with, and building a functional raft is an exciting task. Many players go for small rafts that have everything they need in a centralized location, while other players try to make mansions out of their raft.

It can be fun to start a game simply to make a whole new raft, right now there are well over 90 recipes in the game.

5 Creative Mode

The game offers several different difficulties and a creative mode for players who don’t want to worry about being eaten alive. This mode gives you the ability to build the raft of your dreams without having to worry about the other gameplay elements. You are only limited by your imagination.

The early edition of a creative mode is a huge step in the right direction for this game.

4 Dealing With The Various Enemies

The first thing you will learn about Raft is that, everywhere you go, you will have a shark following you. Even if you kill him, within a few minutes he will respawn and be right back under your boat. This makes it so you can’t simply jump into the water and easily gather supplies. There is a genuine sense of danger the whole time you are playing the game, and even more, dangers appear on the land.

In addition to the shark, there are now bears on the islands, screechers birds that like to dive-bomb players, and bee swarms.

3 Creating a Floating Community

When you play a multiplayer map, you aren’t restricted and can build to your heart’s content. Right now, you can have four players in a single game that can all start building onto your raft. This can allow you to create a floating town where everyone as their own space.

This is especially fun for large groups of friends of different schedules.

2 Serene Gameplay

You can put the game on peaceful and just enjoy the atmosphere of a sprawling ocean. Raft is a pretty game, and it can be relaxing to listen to the sounds of the sea as you float along. If you wanted, you could even build yourself a condo and relax in a chair.

Not everything about the game has to be survival or action.

1 Unique Survial Challenges

Having to survive on the sea is hard; you don’t have the luxuries of getting coconuts from a tree or taking over an island. The sea will always have danger lurking below the depths, and there is no way a single human could destroy them all.

Not only that, but food can be limited while afloat. You must use your wits in order to keep from becoming the seagulls’ next meal.
