The operators in Rainbow Six: Siege are very diverse in terms of the types of gadgets that they can use. Lesion has one of the most unique abilities in the game because he has small spiked traps that deal damage towards the enemy if they step on the mine. The gu mines are even invisible for an added stealth effect.

Playing as Lesion effectively can be difficult at first because he is a hard character to master. However, learning the basics of how Lesion he with other operators and how to use his gu mines is a great place to start if you want to use Lesion as a competitive operator in Rainbow Six: Siege.

10 Equip A Muzzle Brake Onto Lesion’s Q-929 Pistol

During the duration of a match, you may get a chance to easily defeat an enemy that has been affected by one of your gu mines. For situations like this, using a muzzle brake on Lesion’s pistol is a good choice so that you can avoid recoil and hit all of your shots.

While the enemy is low on health after stepping on a gu mine, you need to be quick and defeat them with either your primary weapon or with the Q-929 pistol, which is why equipping a muzzle brake is the perfect option.

9 Don’t Use Explosives Near Your Gu Mines

Although the gu mines that Lesion uses are very powerful, they are also quite fragile. A single explosive that blows up within the radius of a gu mine will destroy it, leaving Lesion with fewer of his gadgets.

To avoid this, don’t use explosives near where you know the mines are located, and if you have to use an explosive, then you should pick up the mine before it explodes. Picking up a gu mine is easy, so make sure to pick it up before throwing any grenades.

8 Watch Out For Thatcher’s EMP Grenades

Although gu mines may seem like a completely physical gadget, they are also electronic, which means that Thatcher’s EMP grenades deactivate the mines for a few seconds if they explode near them.

If the gu mines are deactivated, then it will be much easier to spot and destroy them, and then they can’t deal any damage toward your enemies. If you see Thatcher on the enemy team while you are using Lesion, try to place your mines in a location where a grenade can’t easily hit them.

7 Don’t Place All Of Your Gu Mines In The Same Room

Placing all of your mines in the same location is a bad idea; however, it is common for players to do this because they believe that they can hit a player coming through a certain doorway if there is a line of mines around the door or object.

While this may be true, spreading out the gu mines is a better idea so that you can damage and distract as many enemies as possible during the duration of a match.

6 Pair Lesion With Frost’s Welcome Mats To Kill Enemies Easily

Lesion is a great solo operator to use in Rainbow Six: Siege; however, pairing him with Frost makes for a deadly situation for the enemy.

Both of these operators use traps, and while they may be different traps, they still complement each other in a few different ways. The most notable way that you can effectively use Lesion and Frost as a team is by placing gu mines around a welcome mat. Then, if an enemy is revived after getting stuck in one of Frost’s mats, they’ll take damage from the mines. Then they will quickly lose the rest of their health.

5 Save A Few Gu Mines In Case Of A Perfect Opportunity

Occasionally a situation will come up where you have a perfect opportunity to throw a gu mine in a spot where you know it will hit an incoming enemy.

For this reason, it is best to save one or two mines instead of placing them all down so that you can play strategically and adapt to the changing situation. Although it’s tempting to throw down all of your mines, this usually isn’t a good strategy.

4 Equip The T-5 SMG As Your Primary Weapon

The T-5 SMG is the best option for a primary weapon that Lesion has in his arsenal. Lesion is a character that needs to be prepared for both close combat and fighting at a distance since his gu mines may be far across the room during a match.

Using the T-5 SMG is easy compared to other guns in this first-person shooter because it has a low amount of recoil and a high fire rate. These advantages, coupled with the fact that this weapon is an SMG, make it the perfect weapon for Lesion.

3 Place Gu Mines On Stairways

One of the best locations to place gu mines is on staircases because it’s hard to see the transparent mine while walking up a set of stairs. Additionally, most players don’t expect there to be any type of trap on a set of stairs, so you will have the element of surprise as well.

Most maps have a few different staircases within them, so make sure to spread out a few of your gu mines on the stairs that are closest to the objective room.

2 Team Up With Ela To Disorient And Damage An Enemy All At Once

Ela is another operator that uses a unique type of mine as her main gadget. However, unlike Lesion’s mines, Ela’s mines don’t deal a lot of damage and instead disorient the enemy.

Teaming up with Ela during a Rainbow Six: Siege match is easy; you can place one of Ela’s mines on a doorway and put one of Lesion’s gu mines near it. Then, if an enemy walks through, they will be both disoriented and damaged over time. This will heavily distract an enemy and give you the time to defeat them, and it will also alert you to when an enemy has stepped in your gu mine.

1 Don’t Place Gu Mines Directly Under Doorways

Although placing gu mines around or in front of a doorway is an effective strategy, you should avoid placing the mines directly underneath a door since they can break if one of your teammates barricades the door.

Many different gadgets in the game can break if you or a teammate barricade a door while the gadget is underneath it, and you don’t want this to happen to your gu mines since you have a limited number of them. A lot of players assume that the gu mines are small enough not to be destroyed by a barricade, but this is unfortunately not the case.
