Today, Ubisoft has announced a brand new limited-time event dubbed, “MUTE Protocol” for Rainbow Six Siege that will begin on August 4 and will run up to August 17, giving players two weeks to play the game mode. The new event will take place on a retextured Tower, and will have a ’70s futuristic look. That isn’t all that will be changed in the new game mode.
Players will be able to get robot-themed operator cosmetics for the following operators: Jackal, Lion, and Ying, and Defenders Kapkan, Mira, Mute, Oryx, and Vigil. Alongside the operator cosmetics, we will also be able to get futuristic weapon customization options too. If the new event follows trends of previous events, all of these cosmetics will most likely be obtainable only through a special alpha pack.
Similar to past in-game events, the new game mode will have a couple of new mechanics that spice up the original secure area game mode. The new mechanics are based around movement abilities. Attackers will be able to morph into their drone, and spontaneously appear where their drone is left. Defenders will be able to place bulletproof cameras around the map and teleport to it whenever they want.
Unfortunately, not all of the operators will be available to be played during “MUTE Protocol.” Out of the 56 operators, 13 operators will be cut off from the game mode due to unspecified “gameplay reasons.” These operators include Twitch, Thatcher, Mozzie, Mute, Maestro, Valkyrie, Dokkaebi, Echo, Goyo, Clash, Montagne, Blitz, and Caveira.
With the expanded movement options, players will be able to try out new strategies and outplay their opponents like no other. Attacks will be able to enter dangerous territory in a safer and in a more unpredictable manner. Defenders can rotate behind enemies and around the map with smart placements of their bulletproof cameras. With all that in mind, the game mode is set out to be one of the most unique and fun game mode to ever arrive in Rainbow Six Siege.
