Last week, the official Call of Duty Twitter account started teasing a new operator. They had the player name of “SURVIVORJOHN#1009062,” played five games for a total playing time of seven hours, and in those seven hours somehow managed to kill 552 people. That’s a pretty tall order for even the best Warzone player, but for John Rambo? That’s exactly how many people he’s offed over the course of five films.
Today we got confirmation. The latest trailer to appear on the CoD Twitter account shows the face of Rambo holding a bow with a burning arrow just like in the movies. “The action begins May 20,” the teaser reads. “Become war.”
Rambo is the first licensed character to appear in-game as an operator, but he won’t be the last. Die Hard’s John McClane was also teased as a possible new operator with a fake ad for “Nakatomi duct cleaning.” The ad also featured the tagline “Yippee ki yay” and linked to a website where you could book an appointment from “john@nakatomiductcleaning.com.”
We don’t have official confirmation on McClane like we do Rambo, but it’s just a matter of time before Warzone matches are full of ‘80s action heroes.
Expect to shell out real cash for a Rambo operator skin on May 20, and John McClane sometime later.
Activision recently announced it was cutting ties with Ghost voice actor Jeff Leach after he made repeated sexist and misogynistic comments in interviews and on Twitch. A video compiling these comments has been gaining traction on social media, leading to a public outcry demanding Activision take action. Any future games featuring Ghost will have a new voice actor.
