Mirage is one of the many legends in Apex Legends who brings his own unique fighting style to the table. Known for his witty, comical dialogue, he also brings around a close friend in the most recent Season 5 update.
Season 5, Fortunes Favor, added many updates, effects, and cosmetics to Apex Legends. Changing many abilities and passives and even adding many new cosmetics. Lifeline’s Combat Medic, and Octane’s Jump Pad were some of the major changes, but what about Mirage?
Mirage is an over confident, cocky character that bamboozles the enemy teams with his clones. His abilities revolve around confusing the opposing teams and using that as defense or offense in situations. He even mentions that he is a fantastic chef.
With the most recent update Mirage was given an heirloom, an ultra-rare cosmetic item, that resembles himself in a small statue form. Players found that if you continue to melee with the cosmetic on Mirage will take out a pork chop. Yes, a pork chop. To honor his skills, Respawn added this little easter egg.
A fan on Twitter was testing out the new heirloom in practice to see how it works in combat. When suddenly he stumbled upon the best animation and item in Apex Legends. Also, one of the best uses of a pork chop in video games. Getting beaten by a pork chop by someone who makes clones of them self is one one to go.
Apex Legends is a part of the militaristic future depicted in the Titanfall series. Mirage is one of only two characters that provide this kind of comedic relief, with their quips and bizarre animations.
Fans hope that Respawn will add more of these little easter eggs. At the same time there have been some complaints surrounding the games matchmaking and the developers focus. Especially with the now fixed Wraith cosmetic that did not have a head shot hitbox. Even though this was patched in a timely manner it raises many concerns about the future of cosmetics.
