Thanks to remasters and remakes, gamers have more opportunities than ever to play classic titles with a more modern flair. One devoted fan took the trend and applied to the very first Rayman, creating their own fan-made remake. It took a great deal of work to complete and the talented developer who made it happen is releasing it to everyone for free.

The original Rayman, released back in 1995, which means there’s a good chance many gamers today haven’t played it. That’s a shame because it is widely considered one of the best in the Rayman games series. With this in mind, a game developer from Finland, Ryemanni, spent three years painstakingly remaking the game from the ground up so longtime fans and newcomers can experience it. The fan remake is titled Rayman Redemption, and it, along with its soundtrack, is now available to download.

It isn’t just a straight remake, however, it’s a reimagining of the original game. On the game’s official site, it states that it features plenty of new content, “including new worlds, levels, minigames and stuff to collect and complete.” This way, even those who played the original will be in for some surprises. The developer’s passion even pushed them to create a mockup PC cover for the title. Anyone can download the full game for free at Game Jolt.

The most recent console title in the series released back in 2013, and last month Ubisoft made Rayman Legends free to download to help ease the boredom of quarantine during the ongoing pandemic. In fact, Ubisoft released an entire month’s worth of free games in an effort to keep people safely indoors. As for the next chapter in the franchise, not much is known. But the developer announced Ubisoft Forward, a digital game showcase, in May. It is scheduled for early July and there’s a chance the next Rayman could be announced.
