It’s still a little too early to say for sure, but so far the legacy of Cyberpunk 2077 is what happens when you overhype a game for years and then release it before even half the bugs were squashed and missing many of the promised features. That is to say, it was a monumental cluster of a game that surpasses even No Man’s Sky.
But like No Man’s Sky, developer CD Projekt Red has promised to fix and finish Cyberpunk 2077 so that perhaps over the next year the game’s true legacy will turn out to be some pretty amazing cocktails.
That legacy might already be happening. Reddit user Harry_Tipper recently posted a blackboard menu showing that a local bar was serving a version of the Johnny Silverhand, a drink showcased in the opening moments of Cyberpunk 2077.
The Johnny Silverhand is basically a tequila old fashioned with a splash of beer and a chili garnish, but every drink in The Afterlife bar is given its own special name after a deceased celebrity. In the world of Cyberpunk, there’s no bigger name than Johnny Silverhand, so it’s a very special drink.
The in-game recipe isn’t particularly hard, but for a far better version, we can turn to YouTube’s How To Drink, who created a promo video of the Johnny Silverhand months before Cyberpunk was supposed to release last summer.
Step one: prepare the glass by painting the rim with lime and chipotle chili powder. Next, mix 12 ml simply syrup, 60 ml tequila, a dash of angostura bitters, and a dash of orange bitters. Mix with ice, stirring a little longer to ensure a bit of dilution with water. Strain the cocktail into the prepared glass and then finally top it off with some high ABV beer by gently pouring it over a bar spoon.
Do it right and the beer will float over the tequila old fashioned and provide an intense and unique flavor worthy of the deceased fictional rockstar’s name.
It was so good that CD Projekt Red even changed the in-game model of the Johnny Silverhand to match How To Drink’s recipe. How To Drink then followed that up with his take on the Jackie Welles, which spoils the opening segment of the game if you haven’t played it yet.
