Do you appreciate Tekken, one of the longest-running 3D fighting franchises out there, but don’t have what it takes to do more than mash all the buttons with Eddy Gordo and hope that your opponent doesn’t know what they’re doing? Well, it might just be time to start taking lessons from one of the most prolific energy drinks, Red Bull.
Starting July 23, professional Tekken player Hoa ‘Anakin’ Luu will be posting training videos to Red Bull Gaming’s YouTube account as part of the new series ‘Class in Session: Anakin’s TEKKEN Academy.’
According to Red Bull Gaming, the six-part series will teach players everything from “basic gameplay fundamentals” to advanced combos, and will provide insights from Anakin’s fighting game career.
“The goal of this series is to introduce as many people to Tekken as possible and show how easy it can be to become a fan of fighting games,” said Anakin. “I’m very excited about this series and its potential to help grow the next generation of the fighting game community. I’ve always loved helping anyone who shows interest in learning my favorite game."
Anakin, who is part of the Red Bull eSports team, is one of the most-successful Tekken players in North America. He placed fourth in the 2019 Tekken World Tour Finals, a tournament that brings together the top 19 qualified players from around the world.
The series will launch at noon pacific time on July 23, with one session going live each week. Anakin will also be holding “office hours” on his Twitch stream on July 24, where he will answer questions from the community. The stream will also feature “guest lecturers” in the form of other major players in the fighting game community.
