Now that the Naturalist role has been added to Red Dead Online, there are even more incentives to head out into the wilderness and start tracking down the dozens of unique animals roaming through nature. If you’re following Harriet’s lead then you won’t be hunting and killing any of these animals, but rather sedating them to take a sample, which fits much more with what the role of Naturalist implies. Either way, there are a ton of animals you’ll need to catalog, each broken down into their respective habitats. If you want to know where to find all the animals in the Farmland to complete the collection for some handsome rewards, follow along with this guide.

The Farmland Habitat is the easiest of the regions to complete, having a total of 11 farm animals you’ll need to collect samples from. As the name implies, you can find many of these animals on farms or ranches around the map, making it a nice and easy way to get used to this brand new role.

Farmland Habitat Animal Locations

As stated, you have 11 animals on your list to complete this set, so we’ll go through each one at a time. Many of them can be found in or around the same area so we’ll tackle each group based on where you can find them.

The Emerald Ranch area, and the ranches in that area, will have just about all the animals on this list, including the first six or so you’ll need to track down. The Florida Cracker Cow are one of the most common animals you’ll find here, so you shouldn’t have any trouble finding an entire pen of them to sedate and sample. The Angus Bull should be just as easy, although you should probably fire from the safety of outside the pen just in case it charges you. The same applies to the Devon Bull and Hereford Bull. Your two Ox targets, the Angus Ox and Devon Ox, are also kept in these pens around the ranches.

One thing to note that may make your time with the cows, bulls, and oxen a little easier is that what type spawn in each ranch’s pens is random. If you don’t get the ones you’re missing you can switch to a new server to try and find the right one you’re looking for.

There are three breeds of pig you’re going to need to find, all of which you can track down in the Valentine Barn. These are the Old Spot Pig, which is the pink kind with grey-ish dark spots, the darker toned Berkshire Pig, and the Big China Pig is, well, big.

Next up you’ll need to keep your eye out for the Merino Sheep, which can be in either the Valentine Ranch or Emerald Ranch. You shouldn’t have trouble picking this big, fluffy white creature out from the rest.

Finally, and last on our list, is the Alpine Goat. This one seems to be consistently found in a pen at the Emerald Ranch right next to the barn. They’re the only goat here, so it won’t be hard to identify them.

How To Get Your Reward

Once you’ve sedated and collected samples from all 11 animals in this habitat using the sedative ammo and the Varmint Rife, which Harriet can sell you if you run low, take all the samples to Harriet. She’ll buy them all individually for a small sum, and you will obviously be earning XP in the process, but the big payout comes from trading in the set. Make sure you go into Progress, Roles, select Naturalist, Animal Field Guide, and then highlight Farmland Habitats and press square to trade it in. This will reward you with an extra $60.00 and 1,000XP, and also reset your progress if you want to complete it again to collect more rewards.
