The drought of new content in Red Dead Online seems to have to an end as yet another brand new Legendary Animal sighting has just been added to the game. While some of the most recent new Legendary Animals have been somewhat on the easier side, this new target is arguably the most deadly yet. Known as the Iwakta Panther, Harriet is once again calling on you to track down this sneaky predator. If you are having a hard time turning the tables on this wild creature, check out our complete hunting guide.

How To Hunt The Iwakta Panther In Red Dead Online

Just like all the other Legendary Animal sightings that have come since the Naturalists update in Red Dead Online, you’ll first need to consult with Harriet before this mission can be started. You will find her in one of her usual camping spots, either West of Wallace Station, Northeast of Macfarlane’s Ranch, or Northwest of Lagras. After listening to another one of her little rants, you’ll be sent off to begin your search in the Scarlett Meadows area.

Before you head out to start tracking down the Iwakta Panther, make sure you’re fully stocked up on your tranquilizers, or just standard, ammo. It may not take as many rounds as a bear or moose, but it is quick and can be hard to hit. The last thing you want is to run out of ammo when it rushes you down.

You’ll start your investigation at the Braithwaite Manor where a man will tell you about a recent attack that left a man dead in the top field. Ride out to the scene and turn on your Eagle Eye to find some clues. Once you find and inspect the bloodstain you can follow the trail until you need to investigate some more evidence of animal attacks until you pick up the panther’s trail once again. Be careful in this area because there may be some regular panthers around waiting to ambush you.

The trail will run out at a small campsite where a cutscene will trigger to introduce the Iwakta Panther as it stalks and attacks two unsuspecting men. You’ll regain control as they attempt to fight it off, but they have no chance against it. Once it finishes with them, the panther will almost immediately become aggressive towards you, so get ready.

Just like any other panther, this Iwakta Panther is lighting fast and will tear you off your horse in an instant if it gets the chance. Dead Eye can help some, but this panther can maul you in just one or two attacks so you should expect to die a time or two. After either tranquilizing or killing it, collect your sample or skin.

If you took a sample like Harriet asked, return to her for the traditional rewards of Naturalist and general XP. If you’re more in the market of fashion, take the pelt over to Gus where you can trade it in, along with $845, to purchase the Iwatka Coat Garment set. To complete the Animal Field guide you’ll need to do both anyway, so the choice isn’t all that impactful.
