Step away from all the mayhem in Red Dead Online and find a moment’s peace by going fishing. Fish can be sold on (to Jeremy Gill, yes, that really is his name) or cooked into meals. Smallmouth Bass are one of the many varieties of fish you can catch in Red Dead Online.
Smallmouth Bass aren’t overly valuable, or even that rare, but you do need to know where to look. Below you’ll find out the different locations you can catch Smallmouth Bass, as well as where to find the Legendary Smallmouth Bass.
Where To Find Regular Smallmouth Bass
Smallmouth Bass are most commonly found in the Southern Rivers in Red Dead Online, close to Flat Iron Lake, and in a few of the rivers around Saint Denis. There are one or two spots out west, towards Owanjila Lake. Here’s a closer look at the spots you should visit to have a better chance of catching a Smallmouth Bass. There are some lovely peaceful spots, perfect for a solo Red Dead Online player to sit back and pass the time.
Good Fishing Spots For Smallmouth Bass Near Saint Denis
In the map above, the spots highlighted in blue are probably the easiest places to fish successfully for Smallmouth Bass. The fish can be found all along the Kamassa River, but the highlighted areas have decent access to the water. Out on the east side of Flat Iron Lake, there are a couple of islands, the fish is found in between them and off the shore close to Rhodes.
Best Fishing Spots For Smallmouth Bass In West Elizabeth
The spots highlighted in blue are the best spots to catch Smallmouth Bass in West Elizabeth, mostly north of Blackwater. The Upper Montana River has Smallmouth Bass galore, and the area that opens up into Flat Iron Lake is a peaceful spot to kick back and try to catch some six-pound Bass.
Where To Catch The Legendary Smallmouth Bass In Singleplayer
The Legendary Smallmouth Bass is found in the waters of the Owanjila lake. Players stand a better chance of catching it while it’s raining, and Special Lake Lures should be used. It should be noted that you cannot catch the Legendary Smallmouth Bass in Red Dead Online - Legendary Fish are only available during the singleplayer campaign. They were not added with the Naturalist role update.
How To Catch Smallmouth Bass
Though the game suggests you should use crickets as bait, usually Special River Lures are more effective for catching Smallmouth Bass. Crickets will end up catching all sorts of other fish that aren’t the Smallmouth. In Red Dead Online these lures are significantly more expensive than crickets. As with the Legendary fish, Smallmouth are more common when it’s raining.
