The locations to explore in Red Dead Redemption 2 are filled with interesting details, secrets, and activities to take you away from the gripping campaign missions. Lemoyne is the smallest state on the map, but it doesn’t lack a handful of spots you should absolutely visit during your playthrough.
Among these is Saint Denis, the most civilized settlement you’ll come across in the game. Despite the fact that Lemoyne is lacking when it comes to size, it’s actually the most densely populated area by NPCs; so make sure you keep a bandana handy to rob some rich people on their way to a saloon.
10 Fishing Spot
Whether you are hunting for Lemoyne Raiders or just looking to catch something to eat, the Fishing Spot never lets you down. Arthur visits this area during the “American Distillation” mission to destroy the Raiders’ moonshine distillery, in his epic staple fashion.
Sooner or later, you will undoubtedly take a trip to this swamp area. When you do, make sure you look carefully at the ground you tread on: you don’t want to end up becoming dinner for the gators that live here.
9 Face Rock
This is easily one of the strangest locations in the game. There isn’t much to say about the Face Rock, except the obvious fact stated by its name. Notably, many posters in train stations feature this naturally occurring rock, which perhaps serves as one of Lemoyne’s main tourist attractions.
This place is not just for eye candy, though. A tree behind the Face Rock contains the second Poisonous Trail Treasure Map, which eventually leads to four gold bars — make sure you don’t miss it.
8 Houseboat
Found in the Bluewater Marsh region of Lemoyne, this quaint location houses the Phonograph, one of the game’s points of interest. It’s unclear whether the boat is abandoned or not, but you should visit it to collect a couple of missable items: the Miss Maud Delancey and Cyclist - R.S. Harradon cigarette cards.
Due northeast of the Houseboat, you can also find the environmental prompts to begin hunting the Legendary Boar, whose tusks and pelt are needed to unlock a special talisman and a unique outfit.
7 Sisika Penitentiary
Most little towns in Red Dead Redemption 2 have their own Sheriff’s office, complete with a handful of cells where Arthur and John can end up if you’re not careful and fumble your open-world robberies. The Sisika Penitentiary is the game’s dedicated, state of the art, prison facility.
You can’t visit this area easily, but a certain mission takes you there. It suffices to say that this spot is easily one of the most iconic in Rockstar’s game, since it’s likely based on the Louisiana State Penitentiary, the largest prison in the U.S.
6 Saint Denis
You might already know that this massive city serves as Lemoyne’s capital. You can find almost anything you need right here, including a movie theater Arthur can visit to take a special someone on a date. Other than that, you can look forward to letting your gambling passions run wild in saloons.
Overall, Saint Denis notably stands out from the rest of the game. Its tall buildings, paved streets, and industrial aspect heavily contrast the desert plains or rich forests found just about anywhere else.
5 Abandoned Church
Going here at night may cause unwanted spooks. This small location, found east of the Braithwaite Manor, serves as a lookout post for the Lemoyne Raiders, one of the rival gangs in the game.
The reason why this church looks like something out of a horror movie is due to a huge explosion that occurred during the Civil War — not the one between Iron Man and Captain America. The Confederate Army stored gunpower at this location until one soldier accidentally set fire to a barrel.
4 Braithwaite Manor
This former slave plantation serves as the backdrop for one of the most explosively exciting missions in Red Dead Redemption 2, but it’s also the home of the Braithwaites’ dark secret. You can unveil this mystery only by playing as Arthur.
A small outhouse lies southeast of a fishing cabin on the estate. Inside, you can discover Gertrude, a member of the Braithwaite family who suffers from mental disorders and is likely the offspring of an incestuous union. The Braithwaites locked her in the outhouse since she was a little girl, fearing her condition would tarnish the family name.
3 Rhodes
If you ever watched a Clint Eastwood movie and would like to reenact an iconic shootout scene, quicksave your game and go here. This small town has a small railroad hub (perfect for last-minute getaways), a saloon, and a gunsmith. That’s everything someone needs to film a Spaghetti Western.
Rhodes is the classic, iconic small village found in virtually every movie involving cowboys. You can even see tumbleweeds roll across the street when it’s high noon. How epic is that?
2 The Grand Korrigan
This large steamboat primarily functions as a location for two separate missions, on different occasions. One involves pulling a heist during a high-stakes poker game, and the other is about touching base with legendary gunslinger Jim “Boy” Calloway.
Unfortunately, you can only explore The Grand Korrigan during these two missions, although its exteriors are always accessible in free roam. That’s an unfortunate shame, considering the ship is known for consistently holding high-end gambling games, which could be perfect money-making opportunities.
1 Shady Belle
Shady Belle is a mansion found in the marshlands of Lemoyne. It’s initially inhabited by the Lemoyne Raiders, whom Arthur and John dispatch to make room for the Van der Linde gang. During the fourth chapter of the game, this location serves as the characters’ hideout.
If you need to make money during this chapter, the lockboxes underlying the manor always respawn their valuable contents after three in-game days. Other than that, plenty of unique interactions between gang members take place here, so make sure to spend some time talking to Javier, Hosea, and Lenny.
