The more frugal of gamers among us are getting a hell of a deal with Xbox Game Pass next month. Surprising everyone, Microsoft has announced that 2018’s smash-hit Red Dead Redemption 2 will join the subscription service on May 7, 2020, for Xbox One owners. Now you can experience the 50-hour long epic in 4K without having to splurge on an actual disc.

Joking aside, this is quite the get for the service. Red Dead Redemption 2 may not be to everyone’s liking, but this is one of the most critically acclaimed and highest-selling titles of the current console generation. For Rockstar to be willing to put it on Game Pass shows a lot of confidence in its product.

Game Pass works similarly to Netflix, so the addition of new games means older titles get removed. With Red Dead 2 coming, it only stands to reason that Grand Theft Auto V is getting the ax. On the same day, the modern-day crime simulator will be riding off into the sunset to make way for the past-western fantasy title.

That gives you roughly two weeks to finish GTA V if you started playing it via Game Pass. It seems Rockstar doesn’t like letting titles gestate for too long, so Red Dead will likely leave Game Pass in the near future. If you’re eager to try it, don’t wait.
