In a livestream, fans can watch the voice actors of Red Dead Redemption 2 reunite to play its online multiplayer mode, Red Dead Online. Part of the stream is Benjamin Byron Davies who plays not one, but two important characters in the Red Dead Redemption series.
As part of a GameSpot charity stream aiming to raise money for Black Lives Matter and COVID-19 support organizations, three voice actors from Red Dead Redemption 2 got together to be a part of the fun. Part of the stream was Benjamin Byron Davies who voices Dutch van der Linde, Alex McKenna who voice Sadie Adler, and Roger Clark who voices Arthur Morgan. Not only is it good fun to watch the actors enjoy the game that they starred in, but fans could also get a thank you from them for donating to good causes.
Over the two-hour-long stream, fans were able to watch the actors crack jokes, celebrate each other’s work and answer questions about the game they famously star in. Asked what effect Red Dead Redemption 2 had on the actor’s lives, McKenna spoke about how she and her castmates spent five years working on the game and “hours upon hours” doing full motion-capture together. While Dutch’s gang is a close-knit group, McKenna says that in real-life, her castmates are her “family”.
McKenna also revealed that it was two years before she learned that she was working on Red Dead Redemption 2. While she knew early on that the game was a Western, she felt that it was probably “safer” for her to not try to figure out what the game was until it became “pertinent” to how she was going to play Sadie Adler. While there have been some Rockstar Games leaks about its next project, the secrecy surrounding the production and the efforts that actors go to is likely why the developer’s plans are able to be kept under wraps.
It’s unclear if fans can expect the Red Dead Redemption 2 cast members to reunite for another game in the series. Rockstar Games co-founder Dan Houser said that Red Dead Redemption 3 is possible if Red Dead Redemption 2 sold well and this was before the game sold 29 million copies.
It could be a while until a third game is released though. Rockstar Games is rumored to be developing Grand Theft Auto 6 and it will also be bringing Grand Theft Auto V to PS5 and Xbox Series X next year, which may mean that a new Red Dead Redemption could be many years away.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is available now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
