This talented artist is making Pokémon video game mashups and posting them to Reddit for everyone to enjoy.
Every artist goes through a phase. Sometimes they never get out of that phase, like Michaelangelo and his religious paintings, or Leonardo and his ultra-realistic everything. Or sometimes its many phases, like Picasso and his blue, rose, cubism, neoclassical, and surrealist periods.
But frankly, I’d be totally fine with Reddit user Petey_Pariah staying in their “Pokémon and classic video games mashup” phase. This stuff is pure gold.
Take the latest creation to make a splash on the Pokémon subreddit. Titled “I drew a Legend of Zelda OoT and Pokemon mashup” (Petey_Pariah typically uses extremely descriptive titles), it features a scene from Ocarina of Time but recast with classic Pokémon. Ganondorf is now an extremely angry Emboar, while Link has been replaced with Gallade. Zelda is represented in stained glass as Gardevoir, the feminine counterpart to Gallade.
Reddit user SkykmaneTV said it best when they renamed each character as Zeldevoir, Linlade, and my personal favorite, Ganenboarf.
Petey_Pariah has an entire portfolio of Pokémon mashups on their user profile. Here we have Inteleon subbing in for Vince and Leon in Pulp Fiction, the ‘Mon’s finger gun being the perfect substitute for paired 9mm handguns.
Here’s the newly revealed Galarian Slowbro as Megaman, who seems far less upset about losing their arm to a Shellder so long as it can fire plasmablasts.
And here we have Banjo Kazooie in Pokémon form, including Usuring as Banjo, Cramorant as Kazooie, Alola Marowak as Mumbo Jumbo (a truly inspired choice), and Mismagius as Gruntilda. Various other Pokémon fill in for minor baddies found in the original cover art.
There’s plenty more if you go further back into Petey_Pariah’s history, and I’d encourage you to check out all of the amazing work they’ve done. And hopefully will keep doing–ain’t nothing wrong with being internet famous for Pokémon mashups.
