Due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic (among other factors), we’re going to have to wait a little longer for the next chapter in the super-spooky Remothered story.

All too often, the survival horror genre seems to be dominated by the same old names. Resident Evil, Silent Hill, ect. For the older gamers among us, Alone in the Dark. There’s a darn good reason why these series are so well-regarded in the genre, but their presence (and the much-ballyhooed remakes of the likes of Resident Evil 2 and 3) can sometimes stifle the newer IPs that want to get their voices heard.

Still, newer spinetingling series have made successes of themselves in recent years. Dead Space is one notable example (who wouldn’t want to see any other entry) that horror fans have lapped up, but many won’t be familiar with the Remothered games.

The brainchild of Italy’s Stormind Games and Chris Darril, the first game launched in 2018 for PC, Xbox One and PS4, before being ported to Nintendo Switch last September. It’s titled Remothered: Tormented Fathers, and tells a creepy story revolving around the disappearance of a young girl named Celeste. In investigating the case, the player learns much more about the enigmatic Dr. Richard Felton, the secrets hidden in his mansion and the grim details of the pasts of the major players.

Tormented Fathers is fascinating and gripping, so fans were glad to hear that sequel Remothered: Broken Porcelain was on the way. As PC Gamer reports, it was originally scheduled to arrive on August 25. Sadly, owing to the global situation, the team has opted to delay the game until October 20.

“We are incredibly excited to invite you into this wonderfully realized chapter of the Remothered story, but it’s important that we deliver the experience you deserve. Having additional time for polish and to accommodate unanticipated longer timeframes due to the current global situation will help us do exactly that,” the publisher reports.

With coronavirus negatively impacting our lives in so many ways, it’s no surprise that the gaming industry has taken a hit as well. As always, to ensure that a game will ultimately be the best it can be, it’s sure to be worth the wait in the end. Not that these few months will be easy for Remothered fans.

If there’s one positive to be drawn from the delay, as publisher Modus points out, it’s that Broken Porcelain will arrive just in time to be the perfect Halloween game. What better way to spend that time of year than unraveling the story of the mysterious and terrifying Ashmann Inn, home to all manner of supernatural secrets?
