Unfortunately, publisher Modus Games has officially announced that the much-anticipated horror game Remothered: Broken Porcelain will have to be delayed by two months.
According to a recent blog post by Modus Games:
But actually, this ain’t all bad news really. The new release date set for October 20th, 2020, is that much more fitting, what with it being around Halloween and all. We love it when new horror games pop up around the spookiest time of the year, and this means along with Little Hope - the next installment in The Dark Pictures Anthology - also being unleashed upon us around the same time on October 30th, we have a good dose of the scares to look forward to.
After much consideration, we have reached a decision with Darril Arts and Stormind Games to delay Remothered: Broken Porcelain’s release to October 20th this year.
Along with that silver lining, there’s the fact that this delay gives the developers that much more time to get Remothered: Broken Porcelain as polished as possible before players get their hands on it. According to Modus Games, the decision was made for this exact reason:
So unsurprisingly, the COVID-19 pandemic has everything to do with it, too. But at least we won’t have that much longer to wait.
We are incredibly excited to invite you into this wonderfully realized chapter of the Remothered story, but it’s important that we deliver the experience you deserve.
Having additional time for polish and to accommodate unanticipated longer timeframes due to the current global situation will help us do exactly that.
This announcement comes just one month after the original release date of August 25th was revealed in a terrifying new trailer as part of the Future Games Show. Obviously over the last few weeks the developers realized they wouldn’t be able to outrun the ripple effects of the pandemic in time after all.
Still, it’s certainly a far better idea to take a step back and not get caught up in the crunch culture mindset that would entail trying to push the original release date through the system no matter the cost.
Remothered: Broken Porcelain will now be releasing for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One on October 20th, 2020.
